    Good Points: Exterior styling good. Acceleration excellent. Automatic tailgate operation a very useful addition.


    Bad Points: The unreliable run-flat tyres. I've had 6 punctures that couldn't be repaired in 2 years. They are expensive and not always in stock. The car is far too over engineered. So much is computerised that, when there's a glitch, it is never a simple repair.


    General comments: The BMW 5 Series 545i has been a real disappointment. I don't feel I can trust it on a long journey as I have frequently had 'flat tyre' warnings on the motorway, which freaks me out when I've got dogs and kids in the car. I have also had persistent problems with the Self Leveling Suspension. I would never buy one again.
