Good Points: Location, and that it's largely undiscovered by tourists who lunch next door at a poor pub or in nearby expensive restaurants.
Bad Points: Food is cooked to order, so on my visit, as the place had a party going on, it took 45 minutes to come.
General comments: OK. Where do I start? Bar Cwtch is an unassuming bar in the basement of a "boutique" hotel (Jolyons) in Cardiff Bay. I dropped in for a glass of wine, having spent year's building up the courage to venture in (it looks very exclusive). I was delighted by the service and the welcome, and I was bowled over by their wood burning oven. They do pizza. That's it! At £8, the generous slab of wood-oven cooked pizza was excellent value, and ideal for sharing. All pizzas come in at £8, and you have a choice of fresh toppings - this really is relaxed, smart, fun cooking at its best. If the two gorgeous staff (female naturally) had been any more laid back then ...
Recommended for relaxed dining and a glass of wine. But don't tell anyone. It's our secret hideaway!
