Good Points: Firstly, this review is based on a Pod 1 Grade One, purchased from the salix factory in Kent. A bat purchased from a retailer at a cheaper price is almost certainly not going to be as good quality. The Pod 1 is without doubt the best looking bat on the market, but it is not just its looks that are 10/10. The bat has a beautiful middle and the 'ping' is fantastic. This performance is enhanced by the brilliant pick up of the bat, however, whilst customising my bat in the factory, i did ask for a lower weight. But none-the-less, i'm sure normal low-weighted bats have an equally smooth pick up. The pick up ensures maneuverability and the opportunity to play extremely graceful shots. I previously used a Newbery Uzi, and the quality of my batting has increased enormously with the more swift Salix.
Bad Points: The only drawback is the slight lack of power, when a batsman attempts an ambitious 6 shot over midwicket, it leaves somewhat to be desired, as opposed to an Uzi or other 20/20 style bat. However, for the more graceful batsman, the performance of the bat is more than enough. Also, the price of the bat, with a r.r.p of £300, perhaps a little steep.
General comments: I recommend visiting the factory and having a bat made to your own requirements, such as weight and profile. Not only does this give you a better quality bat, more suited to you, but it also means you get a discount of 10% or so.
A bat for the more graceful batsman, not ideal for sloggers.
