Good Points: Fantastic Service. Great atmosphere. Excellent food. Excellent wine list.
Bad Points: For the average person this is a very rare treat as it is not cheap.
General comments: We went to the Chester Grosvenor's Michelin Star Restaurant 'The Arkle' last year and my husband and I had a wonderful meal.
When you arrive, you are really pampered from the start and in want for nothing. We personally had a waiter each (though I do not know if this is the norm).
You are offered a wide range of fresh baked breads when you are seated at you table of which we chose 4 different types. The wine list is the biggest I have ever seen, though due to it's size not all the wines have a description, the basically say eg: 'Australian Chardonnay and the year, due to this we were a little lost, but the wine waiter soon came over to ask what types of wine we would normally drink and chose for us an excellent Chardonnay which was around the £38.00 mark. For The Arkle wine list, this was one of the cheaper wines as many are in the £100's of pounds, and if my memory serves me right I did see one in the region of £1000.
The food is true A La Carte, so minimal but we did not come away feeling hungry and though some of the dishes were a bit way out, they worked and there was not anything that we did not enjoy.
However, this isn't for the average person somewhere you could dine every week as it is rather expensive at £55.00 each for a 3 course meal, 12% service charge and drinks on top from what I recall our bill came to around £210.00 for the two of us.
I would go again, but it would be for a special occasion and as a treat for a food and wine fan I would definitely recommend it.
