I got SCP Hair Straighteners Mk 5.2a for Xmas last year as a gift from my mum. She always went on to me about how she wasn't going to fork out £90+ on a hair appliance and I thought that was fair enough. She didn't want me to see the straighteners, she wanted them to be a surprise so I had no idea which one I was going to get.
I received them at Xmas and was delighted ! My hair is thick and curly and in my opinion damn annoying sometimes ! That morning it was just as usual so I plugged in...

I had a pair of SCP'S bought for me for christmas. After i stood on my GHD'S and broke them i know i know!....The SCP'S are
pretty good and they look nice, and also there not to different from GHD'S. But i have to say if you were to have the choice beetween the two and you could get your GHD'S cheap then id go with them although there not completely Ceramic the whole packaging and feel of them is alot better.

I've had my SCP straighteners about 3 months now and they are great! I only paid £40 for them and they're better than my sisters who paid over double for hers. I ordered mine online and they came next day. Would definitely recommend! (read more)

I bought a pair of SCP Straighteners last Xmas. I have thick, quite curly hair. While these pair of straighteners do leave my hair straight, about a few minutes after I straighten it, or go outside, my hair does not stay straight for long. After an hour or two my hair was almost completely the same as it was before. I had my hair straightened in a salon once with GHD's so I know how good they are. I think these straighteners are miles off GHD's. They may be ok for someone with straight hair... (read more)

I bought my SCP'S because I couldn't afford GHD'S. I have asked many hair salons which are better GHD'S or SCP'S and they have all told me that SCP'S are the best because GHD'S (and not a lot of people realise this) are NOT solid ceramic plates where as SCP'S are solid ceramic plates. i love my SCP'S. I use them along with protecting products and I'm pleased with the results every time. I do have my hair done with GHD'S at the salon and I can honestly say that there seems to be no difference... SCP Hair Straighteners are an Excellent product! 10/10! Its as good as GHD! I have owned 2 GHDs in the past and I came across this new SCP and they work and straighten exactly the same way, leaves hair shiny and healthy looking. Would recommend SCP over GHD any day! GHD too expensive and not worth when you can get SCP half the price and does the same job! (read more)

I was cautious in buying SCP Hair Straighteners from reading reviews but have to say i think they are amazing have been using them for the past month and once the plastic burning smell goes they are perfect. I have tried using friends GHD's before but they simply don't work on my hair however these just straighten with ease.
However if you are buying the straightening mist and serum do not buy online as I think they are overpriced.

I would personally give SCP Hair Straighteners 9/10 because of the quality, and the fact that the product is long lasting. My hair, when straightened is light, very soft and bouncy, and I don't have to spend 3 hours restraightening my hair afterwards because it's gone curly after 10 minutes!! (read more)

I have a pair of GHD's which I have had for 18 months. They were very expensive but very good. When my 13 year old, who has wavy hair, asked for some for her birthday last year, I looked for a cheaper alternative. I came on here and read the reviews and decided to try the SCP version.
What an absolute pile of rubbish they have turned out to be. I seem to recall the SCP site stating that GHD are not solid ceramic and so the coating on the plates rubs off but theirs are solid so this will not...

I have since cancelled my order, another 3 weeks after posting my original comments, and I have had no joy from the company. I am still awaiting my refund and this order is nearly 3 months old. Customer service is non-existent. And trying to contact the company is unbearable, as they won't accept calls at present.

Further to my comments above - It took me over a month of constant phone calls to get my refunds for my 2 broken pairs of straighteners and p&p. I was told for 2 weeks solid that they had sent me out my cheques the day or 2 days before. I referred my case to trading standards who have taken up the case to get hair stuff direct to stop selling dangerous goods.

Hi there, I've had exactly the same problem and have waited over a month after sending back the second faulty pair of straighteners. They haven't responded to any of my messages and after spending £50 odd pounds on them plus £8 on recorded delivery, it's getting very frustrating - do you recommend that I keep trying to contact them directly?

Hiya, Sorry for delay only checked email today and found your question. I contacted consumer advice via www.consumerdirect.gov.uk. Make sure you have all the details of the company (full address and phone no needed) to fill out the form, they then contacted me and then referred my case onto Wigan trading standards. You might even be able to contact Wigan trading standards yourself. In the meantime yes I would continue harrassing them for your money and make sure and tell them that you are taking your case to trading standards, hopefully that will get them moving! I eventually told them to send my cheque to my work using registed mail as the "cheques" kept getting lost in the post ( if they were ever posted ). This seemed to help and I did get the cheque 24hrs later but not via registered mail as promised. Good luck and let me know how you get on.

Success! They've finally sent my refund! I didn't contact Trading Standards in the end but I did warn them that if, yet again, nothing was done I would refer the case to them. Unfortunately they didn't refund the £8 I spent on recorded p&p, but I'm not sure it's worth it after the hassle, and I'd probably spend around that on the phone trying to contact them! Thanks a lot for the advice!

It appears that Natstally has bought a pair of fake SCP's - check the logo is the same as other SCP's you see for sale. I would suggest Natstally contact her local Trading Standards Department should she have no luck with the refund - this will maybe get some action!

My friend has owned a pair of SCP hair straighteners for some time now and I tried them and was very impressed with their performance. I recently purchased a pair which I beleive is the newer model and the results are amazing I have very thick hard to manage hair and these straighteners left my hair poker straight and feeling really soft. I do so detest when people do not leave a warning for others about what to look out for whilst using their own pair to ensure that they don't encounter the same problems. Nevertheless, I can report that having had my straighteners for nearly a year (received October 2004) I have not had any problems, apart from people asking if I have had my hair done at the salon. If that isn't enough to convince you, check out my own comment.

As I use them often my hair has gone straighter over time and easier to straighten, so much so I often blow-dry it and don't straighten. Yes. When I finally got through and spoke with another sales person, I told her that I had been informed by "Rachel" that Parcel Force had probably stolen the straighteners and the other girl said, "No...actually we are having a lot of problems with the orders at the moment". I said that I had left messages on the answerphones with no replies back and she said that they weren't phoning customers back as the phones were too busy and they were having too many problems at the moment. - Terrible customer service.

I got these straighteners after finding out the price of GHDS (£80+). They took a while to come but this was understandable as my house is up an unmarked country lane. So far I am pleased with them; they heat up quickly (under a minute) and are easy to use. I bought the SCP tourmaline flat iron about a month ago. It's been working great until last week. When I plug it in, the red light is on but it will not heat up. I can't find any customer service numbers or any way to contact the manufacturer. Can anyone give me some contact info so I can reach the manufacturer?

Ordered SCP Solid Ceramic Professional 100% Ceramic Hair Straighteners, the wrong item was despatched. I phoned on a daily basis and was told item had been despatched, 6 weeks later still no straighteners and no refund after being promised a refund would be made the day I cancelled the order. I bought SCP Solid Ceramic Professional 100% Ceramic Hair Straighteners in January after reading reviews about them and as I was a bit poor after Christmas, I decided to give them a go. I had hairtools thermo ceramic straighteners before and had to get rid of them when the ceramic coating started to chip off. I ordered these and was please to find that they came the next day. I recently got a job, with all my wages I bought the SCP Solid Ceramic Professional Straightners after seeing them on the SCP site and heard they were really good. When they came through the post they were rubbish. They didn't heat up at all and I'm really really angry about paying a lot of money on them especially when I worked really hard for it!!!:@:(
I want my money back- and i want it back NOW. . . I would urge no-one else to buy them!

I ordered these SCP Solid Ceramic Professional Straighteners thinking they were better than GHD as they claimed.
When they arrived they were really hopeless at straightening my hair.
I sent them back for a refund and I am still waiting for my money to be refunded after 10 days.
I would not recommend this company at all.

At first I thought great -arrived on time- did a great job but sadly now my hair is always static & the plates are chipping! I wouldn't recommend this product for everyday, long term use!
