Dahon Speed D7 folding bike. Bought mine in early 2008. Very pleased with it. Needed very little setting up, everything stayed in adjustment - little tweek to the gear cable tension was all that was needed after the first 100 miles. Came with an informative manual. Easy to fold, and not too heavy for someone with a bad back. It's a fast, nippy, stiff little frame. Geometry gives an upright position - good for commuting. As the name suggests it's a 7 speed. The ratio is 11-30, so the gears are nicely spaced. Think is's a cassette, though not sure haven't had to remove it yet. Mine came with Dahon special edition skinwall tyres, which were disappointing as I had lots of punctures. Had to upgrade to Schwalbe Marathons which are puncture resistant and have a reflective strip. Another small negative was the Magnetix mechanism fell off in the road. I retrieved the magnet & spring but it's bent and won't go back on. Stays folded without it though. I've ridden ATBs,Tourers, RSWs,a 1970s Moulton, but my Dahon is my favourite. Treat yourself! Regards, Bikester

The bike is capable of keeping up with most other mountain or road bikes nd I do find myself zooming past most other bike commuters. I enjoy watching the faces on those I fly past as they peddle through their inordinate amount of gears, large tires and kit and I just simple peddle past without much effort. The fold is easy; after a bit of practice I can fully fold ...

I was very surprised how light the bike was being made of chomoly steel. Weight was a huge issue for me because it's a folder for a reason, right? I've used it for short rides, around 6 miles each way, just to get out and get some fresh air during my lunch break. The 7 speed comes in very handy and shifts rather smooth for the parts. I wouldn't see why anyone would want anything more assuming that their using this bike for short distances. If not, than they would be better off with a full size ...
