Good Points: Accurate Nicely made Looks different Nicely balanced Telescopic sight raiser included.
Bad Points: Gamo pellet loading port a bit awkward to use. Design precludes use of many extras, Bipods and Silencers are pretty much a no go.
General comments: If your idea of an airgun is a stealthy verminator style metal and plastic job that would look good on a star wars storm trooper, then don't bother with this. The Stutzen is an under lever springer with a full barrel length manlicher / stutzen stock and its traditional design make it look like a refugee from the last century, but that's one of its charms, it's a very nice Spanish made gun with a good old chunk of polished timber holding it together. As has been noted on the review of the .177 variant, it's not a quiet gun and the stock would make fitting a silencer problematic. Barrel fit bipods are out and the underlever would force the position a stock fit one too close to the trigger to be of much use. But these are the prices you pay for using something a bit different.
Apparently it's about 10-11 ft/lbs so doesn't qualify as "full strength" for UK regs, but I've not had it chrono'd yet so can't vouch for it, though it feels about right.
The pellet loading port raises automatically when you cock the gun, but it's a touch awkward to use, the pellet needs to be inserted into a hole that's parallel to the gun body and only just clear of it, I suspect on a cold day with gloves the lack of clearance would make loading it near impossible. When the pellet's in, depress the port, release the safety and you're away. The Diana Stutzen mechanism looks more user friendly, but the price differential is more than I was prepared to accept.
List price in the UK of £280 puts it at the top price bracket of Gamo guns and well into Weihrouch territory and that's heavy duty competition. I got mine from J S Ramsbottom for £149.95 hence the top mark for value, incredible price and excellent delivery made the transaction a pleasure. So far I'm well pleased with it.
My mark for accuracy may be unfairly low as I'm still using it with the standard open blade site provided, I'll be coughing up for a decent mill dot later on.
