“Very Mixed”

I had wavefront LASIK at Accuvision, Fulham a few years ago so some of this may not be relevant but here goes. Initial consultation was very good. There was no hard-sell and I left feeling very confident I'd found the right place. The surgery itself went very well. However, I don't think they made it clear how long it would take to get the final results. I would say it was about 9 months before my eyes really settled down. I didn't expect that. My gripe was with with the after "care" I received. The people didn't seem to give a damn what my concerns were. I found that rather shocking because my eyesight even a month or so afterwards wasn't what I'd hoped. I hope Accuvision have got the aftercare sorted out. The equipment and surgery is very good.

This lack of aftercare is exactly what I experienced, to the point that I would not have believed how bad it was if I did not experience it myself.

I had a consultation at the Wetherby clinic. After months of reading up on various reviews and details of surgeons. I had already decided that I was going to go ahead with treatment, I had even checked out hotels in the area as it was an hour and a half to get to the clinic so I had decided to stay overnight after my treatment.

On arrival the clinic is new looking, free parking outside, clean and the reception area has free tea and coffee and a flat screeen TV on the wall. Very presentable. I was kept waiting 25 minutes, which annoyed me a little as I had travelled so far. However the consultation went ahead and the equipment used was up to date and seemed very state of the art. I was a little wary that you didn't see the surgeon until the day of treatment but I had to put my trust in him.

However, the optician told me that I would need only one eye treated (monovision) and gave me some contact lenses to try which would simulate the results I could achieve. All fine and good until I realised once I was home again that if I only needed one eye treated, why had I been given two lenses to try. When I contacted the optician by email he then said, oh yes, well we might need to do both eyes. ??? I was very confused then, were they treating one eye or both?? at this stage my confidence in Accuvision went from ten to zero. I had to have absolute confidence in the treatment I was having and the surgeon would only be doing what the optician told him to.

I didn't go ahead with my booking, I was very dissapointed and have since booked to have treatment at another provider where the consultation was much more straight forward and they gave me ONE contact lense to try.

I have read many good reviews of accuvision and I was very dissapointed, but I can only state as I found which was dissapointing.
