Very disappointed by the utter lack of after care service. I had my surgery in Liverpool Dec 2011. Thought 2012 went for all follow up appointments and was told that as my prescription was now small I would be able to have top up laser to sharpen up the blurred distant vision I have. I had Ultralase laser surgery on my right eye approximately 11 years after I had Lasik surgery in both eyes at Boots. My Ultralase surgeon decided not to make the initial circular incision by laser but instead pushed the surface to one side after applying an alcohol solution. Having your eyes lasered is more than just getting good eyesight again, it's total freedom. You can just get up and get on with your day, you can just put your sunglasses on without thinking about it, just go swimming or do some other sport, do your hair and make up without the need for glasses or contacts, go away for the weekend without the fear of forgetting or losing your contacts, just get on with life without the niggly hurdle of poor eyesight. Great from start to finish. Staff - from reception to optician to surgeon - were excellent. The treatment was quick, painless and no worse than a minor dentist's appointment. The whole process from start to finish was excellent, and there was no pressure I could everything at my pace. I had been recommended by a friend years previously but was too scared how I wish I had plucked the nerve to get on and do it. BE FOREWARNED Ultralase has no problems in waiting your time. Clearly is you have an issue with being short sighted or long sighted then this treatment may well work. Here is my experience. I made an appointment to attend the Chelmsford clinic on Wednesday the 8th of August 2012 at 14.30. I was informed that I had to set aside two hours and that the required my credit card detail to cover none attendance. I can now do my swimming teaching without glasses, but my sight now still requires me to wear glasses for distance eg driving, shopping, holidays, out of pool teaching, for tv and when it is dull weather or dark - so generally I do still need to wear spectacles but I try not to on a daily basis. I should really have further treatment, but the results I have far outweigh the further treatment worries. My left eye is 0.25 my right eye is 0.75 - if this was the other way round my eyes may... After a consultation at ultralase cardiff i ended up in casualty at heath hospital. as ultralase put drops in my eyes to dilate my pupils which they should never had done, according to the hospital , without tests beforehand due to the prescription of my eyes, and me being longsighted. i was told that pressure was building up in my eyes and that if i didnt have drops from the hospital to counteract the drops from ultralase , then the pressure build up would become fatal and i could go... I am awaiting a third procedure as my lenses (that cost £6,300) have slipped and my eyesight is not as good as it could be. Will report back when had the third procedure. I had my eyes treated 2 years ago and cannot believe the difference this has made to my life. I had a mono vision treatment so I can see for driving and reading (especially price labels - no more miss reading prices or sizes in the sales!) The LASIK Ultra Elite Plus treatment cost near enough £5000 which might seem expensive compared to other companies, but the treatment and after care are wonderful and for life. Nobody should worry about the pain and discomfort or let that put them off having treatment, it is absolutely minimal and no worse than peeling a couple of onion for half an hour, then that subsides and settles down. My treatment was done in the Belfast office, the staff were so helpful prior, during and after the treatment with all details offered and all questions answered.
