“Chaos! "Computer says no"”

ASDA Opticians in Bromborough CH62 3PL. Waited for the two weeks specified only to be told the order hadn't gone in yet. They thought it appropriate to blame the website. Steer well clear of these jokers… Read Full Review

“NEVER AGAIN”

Written on: 24/07/2015 by jacquibaker50 (3 reviews written)

Went to Asda Fareham and had my eyes tested and I felt that I was being pushed varifocals which I did not want but felt that I was nearly going to give in!! I didn't. I went for the two pairs of designer glasses. I feel my glasses are not strong enough and one pair the arm has broken off and other pair the lenses have marked. I have requested the prescription from their online optician customer service email and reported the problem with the glasses. I got an email to say that this email… Read Full Review

“Low prices = Poor value with ASDA”

Written on: 13/07/2015 by ajtayblue (1 review written)

My wife and visited the Hollingbury store to order glasses for both of us. This opticians is not local to us, a 40 mile round trip, but we were enticed by ASDA's advertising. I explained fully my need to have a large field of vision with varificals and was advised that I should go for a Essilor, top of the range lens. I was shown a picture in a catalogue of the expected field of vision and was impressed. A frame was chosen for Clear lens (Essilor) glasses and Sunglasses (your standard… Read Full Review

“Great thin lenses at brilliant price”

Written on: 10/07/2015 by murraykc (2 reviews written)

I have a really heavy prescription at +7, +9 in a varifocal lens. I have in the past paid £350 plus to get thin lenses that don't resemble bottle tops. This year I went online believing the company that said they had the thinnest lenses available at £220. Turned out to be a false claim and spent 3 weeks writing E mails to get my money back. Went to ASDA on the off chance expecting to be let down again. I ordered a pair of varifocal lenses and frame for £75, the ASDA optician said there was… Read Full Review

“Don't use Asda”

Written on: 24/06/2015 by Heatherk441 (1 review written)

I thought I would give Asda opticians a try as my eye test was due. I wish I hadn't bothered. The optician who tested my eyes gave me the prescription and said that I had signs of Glaucoma and the start of a cataract. When my varifocal glasses final arrived after 4 weeks I was told to start wearing them the next day This I did and noticed that things in the distance were blurred I persevered all day and then in the evening whilst watching football on the tv I noticed the score in the left hand… Read Full Review

“The cheap varifocals were unusable, helpful staff though”

Written on: 20/06/2015 by kasay (1 review written)

I went to Asda for as they were advertising £40 varifocals glasses and I had just bought some varifocals from Vision Express for much more. I'd not had varifocal glasses before and the ones from Vision Express were great so I thought I would risk trying Asda for a second spare pair. The opticians were very busy and I had a bit of a wait but the staff were helpful and friendly. I already had a recent prescription and we used this. She looked at my existing glasses and said these varifocal… Read Full Review

“Excellent reasonably priced frames and lenses ”

Written on: 18/06/2015

For £99, I bought 2 pair of designer frames with premium varifocal lenses. This is astonishing given the equivalent at spec savers and other opticians are nearly £400. The most important aspect of the glasses are the lenses and I can't fault the quality of Asda's ones. I was sceptical first having alway been a loyal customer to specsaver. My only regret now is all the money I have wasted in the past. I would strongly recommend Asda opticians. Several negative comments on this website are… Read Full Review

“Don't Waste Your Time”

Written on: 14/05/2015 by BenRhydding (1 review written)

Asda Hull, was slightly sceptical but they couldn't be worse than Specsavers, could they? Sught test seemed thorough and helpful. Three week wait for 2 pairs of varifocals. Chose less expensive frames simply because I didn't like the designer ones. The assistant was not all that interested in the fit or ready to listen to what I had to say. Gave them a week, thought it was the fit of the frames that gave me headaches and rubbish vision. Went back and adjustments made, technician was helpful… Read Full Review

“Absolutely Awful”

Written on: 30/04/2015 by gillybabes_98 (4 reviews written)

Asda Opticians Beckton is a separate unit within the Asda building, since its handy whilst getting some shopping I thought Id go here for a change for my eye test and new glasses, having had less than a good experience with the company I used before. My eye test went as you would expect, I chose 2 pairs of designer glasses, which didn't come cheap! I waited nearly 6 weeks for them to arrive, in my eyes pardon the pun, it was way to long to be waiting on some specs to be made! I got no call to… Read Full Review

“Cheaper isn't always necessarily better!!!”

Written on: 11/04/2015 by gmb09 (1 review written)

Terrible customer services in Hull store. Complained on picking glasses up that I cannot read thought them (varied focal's)in fact the glasses I already have are better. I was told to try them for at least three so my eyes could adjust. On return back to the store I was told I am not holding my head at the correct angle to read. If I tilt the glasses and push right up the bridge of nose I can see but why should I have to do this. I was very angry but they said there is nothing they can do!!! I… Read Full Review

Absolutely agree, Hull Asda Opticians just not worth it, I may only have spent £80 but surely I should be able to see and read with their vaifocals. All sorts of excuses from them, they are my eyes, I know what i can and can't see. Going back AGAIN shortly, the goods must be of serviceable use.

“Still Waiting”

Written on: 13/03/2015

Took my sons to Bromborough store for eye test in December with one of them requiring glasses. Ordered glasses & waited a week & received call to collect them. Went along with my son to collect glasses only to be told the dispenser wasn't in & we needed to come back when he was in. Asked when he would be in only to be told they didn't have his diary & we needed to ring before we came! Returned home & received a call advising they would ring me when they had his diary! Guess what? It's March &… Read Full Review

“Yes, cheaper glasses, but very poor quality”

Written on: 19/02/2015 by Malloryc165 (1 review written)

Purchased 2 pairs of glasses last year from Asda Minworth, I was quite pleased at first, but after a few months arms of glasses became very loose, so returned to Asda to be told the optician was not there. The assistant said she would try and tighten them, she returned and said she had done her best(they did appear a little better),but after a few weeks the same thing again, so back I go and guess what was told optician is not here today. The assistant said 'they look like they have been sat on!… Read Full Review

I took my prescription to Asda having had a sight test at a leading chemist. I found their service and professional approach excellent . their prices were unbelievable in comparison. I had designer frames, verifocal lenses and reactolight for just £99. I had been quoted £356 for the same ! I am soooo pleased with them… Read Full Review

“Asda Morley, Best for me.”

Written on: 10/01/2015 by YorksJohnny (2 reviews written)

I had my eyes tested this year at a local independent optician which was ok but I was a bit shocked at the price for Varilux lenses and frames. I searched the internet and found Asda had an optical Dept so I decided to try them for a better price. My assistant with over twenty years in the business first quoted me for Shamir lenses, the usual ones Asda sell and very good I hear. My mind was stuck on buying Varilux Physio lenses though. I had everything explained very well to me and left to make… Read Full Review
