I purchased varifocal glasses and got the anti-glare and scratch protection coatings. The glasses scratch very easily and of a poor quality. I would advise people not to purchase glasses from Tesco unless you want poor quality glasses.

The eye test was OK but the dispensing was an absolute joke. No attempt to consider frame options, all they wanted was a quick sale and my money. I wouldn't go back to Tescos again....they may sell cheap fruit and veg...but dispense a pair of frames....forget it!

I recently visited Tescos in Bradley Stoke, Bristol. I thought the staff were friendly and helpful. My free sight test was very thorough and took approximately 30 minutes. Well done Tesco I say, keep up the good work : )

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TESCO OPTICIANS,THE AFTER SERVICE IS NON EXISTANT, GLASSES WERE FAULTY AND THE CASE THEY PROVIDED WAS TOO SMALL, WHEN I ASKED FOR A CASE THAT WOULD FIT THEY SAID THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY! ALSO THEY WERE MUCH DEARER THAN THE SMALLER OPTICIANS I HAVE USED BEFORE. I E-MAILED THE HEAD OFFICE BUT I AM STILL WAITING FOR A REPLY. I USED TO SPEND OVER £100.00 PER WEEK ON GROCERIES I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT IN A TESCO AGAIN. THEY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO SELL GLASSES, THEY SHOULD ST ...

I went to Tesco Optician in Colney Hatch in North London. I was very disappointed. I can not see properly with those glasses. Wrong prescription, wrong pupil distance measurement, started having headaches. The customer care is awful. After many visits I asked for a refund and was unsuccessful. Apparently THEY DO NOT GIVE A REFUND. Beware!

I would like to point out the misleading free eye test at Tesco Opticians, Brislington Store, Bristol. Although advertised as a feeebie it is not the case unless you choose from their range.
If you do not choose from the limited range that is in the store you will be charged £10.00 and no prescription to use elsewhere.
Also this is not advertised very clearly.
Customer care is awful and would not recommend going there. I should of STAYED with Specsavers!

I had a free eyetest at Tesco opticians at Great Yarmouth and could not fault it.
However,I chose a pair of varifocals which I liked and was told the prescription would fit in. After 2 weeks I had to go back in and have my pupil distance measured again,my glasses order was cancelled, another pair ordered as someone had written the distances down incorrectly. Another 2 weeks I didn't hear anything, went in,my glasses had just arrived. I couldn't see properly at all with them. I came home, tried ...

Tesco just opened in Orpington and after an eye test i was told i needed varifocals. DONT BE FOOLED BY TESCO PRICES. They say they are cheaper BUT THEY ARE NOT!!. I saw their starting low price offer and one thing is clear once your're in there you wont want the rubbish cheaper spex they have. They tried to sell me £350 worth of spex!!! why would i want to go to a SUPERMARKET who sells potatoes and chicken to get spectacles for that price. All i wanted was a an inexpensive reading pair ...

Don'r be misled. I visited Tesco Opticians in SWales for specs - eye test fine - told Buy One Get One Free offer INCLUDED frames AND lenses. Chose frames cost £120 - great so far, but wait for the catch! When I came to pay for the two pairs, I was asked for a total of £360 - I was being charged, on top of the cost of the frames, £240 for "thinning of lenses" @ £120 per pair, If I did not have the lenses "thinned" I would have bottle type lenses [they even suggested - in ...

I went to Tesco Optians at Middlebrook and found the whole process brilliant. I was booked in for my eye test for a few days after popping in (while doing my shopping). The eye test itself was very professional - just as you would expect from any other opticians. After the test I was told that I didn't really need a new pair of glasses as my prescription has only slightly changed, but as I had already doubled up my clubcard vouchers AND the frames were buy one get one free I decided to get two n ...

Bought some glasses from the Tesco Opticians, Longton branch. Everything fine until AFTER they have your money, then if anything goes wrong you can forget it.
I have tried to get a refund/replacement on a nine month old pair of glasses after one of the arms fell of the glasses into my lap while driving. Was asked how I had been wearing them, suprisingly enough I was putting them on my face and looking through them, perhaps this was my second mistake, the first going to Tesco. All they want is yo ...

I thought the test by the Tesco optician was fine. But when I picked up the glasses I immediately commented that they felt weird, but I thought it was because they were a slightly different prescription to the last ones. However after 2 weeks I am still struggling and the worst thing is the mid vision (ie for computer usage which is part of my job) is appallingly bad. I am suffering from headaches every day. Went to complain, but have to see the manager, and I will have to wait for a week as ...

I would personally not recommend Tesco as a dispensing optician, although the staff are "friendly", they can not give accurate details of lens thicknesses. When the 1st pair arrived the lenses looked like the bottom of a milk bottle (remember "Brains" in Thunderbirds?}.At least I got an immediate refund, I think the staff were themselves quite embarrassed at the glasses. I suppose it's horses for courses.

Tesco Opticians - good eye test as others have said, but no attempt to fit your glasses for you, so very uncomfortable and as I wear varifocals the position is quite critical. I was not impressed with the after care at all.

Awful after care! My eye test was carried out very professionally and the 2 pairs of glasses that I had chosen arrived quickly but, after 2 days of wearing were very uncomfortable. I took the frames back and asked to exchange them for a lighter pair and had to really battle to get an exchange. Tesco had £200 of my money and I was not able to wear my glasses and they did not want to swap them! Eventually I got an exchange but the staff member inisited that he would not exchange again ev ...

Tesco Opticians service was excellent, the staff were great and my glasses were made in two days.
Glasses arrived in store in two days when i was given an est date of 21 days for ultra thin varifocals with anti reflective coating.
    Brilliant!
