“Rip off ”

went in to boots to day to try to get my glasses repaired told that it can not bee done they are only just over 2 years old and the arm has snap off . It woul only take me a few minites to replace the arm. The scew is still in place. “Eye test”

£25 for a 10 minute eye test then when asked to sigh & date a form for work expenses was advised that this would cost £11. When asked to confirm this via a policy took ages to find the policy! Customer service severely lacking… Read Full Review

“No Quality Control”

Ordered spectacles from Hereford Branch, delivered on time as quoted but the frame was defective. Told the spectacles had to be returned to the manufacturer for repair. After two weeks and a visit to the branch no one is able to give me a date when the spectacles will be returned. Requested a phone call back with a date but to date no phone call received. Not only are they happy to supply defective spectacles but also make no effort to put the problem right. Not the way for repeat business… Read Full Review

“TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE”

As an over 60 customer Boots were offering a good package for glasses so I had an eye test and ordered two pairs of glasses - one varifocals and the second sunglasses also varifocals. No problem with the sunglasses. However the normal glasses, which are the ones I constantly use, are terrible. After several trips back for "adjustment" my expensive designer specs look as if they have been sat on! “Expensive spectacles don't work”

I went for a pair of driving glasses and eventually bought varifocals which, Boots claimed, would correct my vision at all distances. The spectacles do not improve my vision at any distance. Their response to my complaints is that I haven't worn them enough. In fact I've owned them for a month and have worn them for as long as I can tolerate. I had a similar experience but far worse. I went for an eye check as I noticed a sudden change in my vision last year. I was prescribed varifocals and told I should wear them for driving. I returned my glasses, which had been over prescribed and was re examined using the chart. I was given another pair of varifcal lenses. Once more I complained and said the glasses were no good. 9 months later I was diagnosed with a Macular Hole by another independant optician. I have had two operations and now I am visually impaired in one eye. I am now seeking legal advice. Boots Opticians failed me badly. Saying I had 20/20 vision on my script last year. Its been a very difficult time. I am very angry indeed. Your vision is everything. Had they flagged up the deterioration in my vision last year by checking my vision from the previous year, I may still have had my full vision.

8 years of good service then this year appalling mistakes with prescription and frames. On complaining did get a small refund but this wasn't what I wanted it was an explanation of the poor service - further letter to Head Office has resulted in absolutely no response and I'm still waiting 41 days later. “Shocking service”

i am now on my second shop for safety glasses which my employer insists we use Boots. First shop in Hawick i was there 3 times before i even got a pair to try on, then none fitted. After fifth visit finally got a pair of my 4th choice. Next prescription tried Galashiels, they are little or no better. First i was called back to pick another pair as i had been given wrong choice. Then after a month and 15 calls later i find out they had not ensured order had been sent to manufacturer.Two weeks… Read Full Review

“Head Office Unconcerned with Bad Service”

I have been going to Boots Opticians in Cranleigh for about 10 years. It was ok. A new person did my eye test, and as I could not see any frames that I liked (it's a small shop) I left the shop: - the staff did not offer to give me a copy of my prescription. I had to phone later to get it. - when I got my glasses from Vision Express (and there was an excellent service there), I could not see with them on; everything was blurred looking through the right hand lens). “The good, the bad and the ugly”

they were punctual in there service and very friendly on the phone and in store. my biggest gripe after the fact that i need my lenses updating was that they damaged my existing frames. i didnt want to buy new frames as i love my existing ones, but now the damage is so severe that my glasses dont stay on my head and slip off my ears. i am very disappoint as i paid a fortune for these frames and will take me complaint further… Read Full Review

“LET'S FEEL GOOD TOGETHER”

I received several reminders since last year to book for another eye check, each time being sent a voucher for a free check. I felt reluctant to go for a check because the glasses prescribed for me about 3 years ago took about 2 months to be ready also up till now I still don't find it comfortable on. I spent £495 pounds on my glasses very pleased with the service I received but was upset not to be able to wear them because they couldn't supply them with the soft nose pads . Tried three branches but none of them had them in stock . I felt like asking for a refund but that would have caused me more grief so I went to specsavers and they supplied and fitted a pair of pads for one pound .just goes to show doesn't it. “Boots Opticians Sales to after sales!!”

After many years going to Boots Opticians abbeycentre i went for a new eye test all seemed as normal, Optician recommended Varifocal. So i picked the frames two pair i always like a spare of glasses. “Feedback on Purchased Glasses”

On purchasing some new glasses I had to return 3 times to get the glasses adjusted. It was only on the 3rd visit that an Optician technician sat down and at length adjusted my glasses stating 'these are very bend aren't they' When paying nearly £400 for a pair of glasses I do not expect to have to return to Boots 3 times to get my glasses adjusted, then only on the 3rd visit been offered to see a Optician technician when I was clearly aggitated. Went to a Queens Road Sheffield for some prescription sun glasses. Had previously had some new glasses from them having taken in my prescription. Picked my glasses ordered and paid for them. Thought they would be nice for my holidays. £220 not cheap but all this nice weather had convinced me. I went for an on the first 1st july. I explained to the optician that was having a problem seeing at long distance, blurred vision. He tested my eyes and they were really healthy but I had aslight cataract I asked if I needed to have them checked his reply was no they are not that bad. I made an appointment at boots opticians Chester The process was great, until I needed to order a certain contact lens.... No one got back to be once they were ordered I tried calling to see if they turned up 5 time I called and no one picked up! “DREADFUL TERRIBLE AVOID”

I recently had terrible service at the Preston Branch. During my eye test the glasses I have to wear whilst the optician does my test kept falling off my face, when I mentioned this was an issue, rather than fix the glasses I had to keep hold of them throughout the test. To me this wouldn't give you an accurate test and also resulted in my arms aching. Surely they should have been fixed to fit my face correctly? “Quite frankly, hopeless!”

Had an eye test at Boots Chesterfield, which although it was a bit like going through a production line was fine. That's where it ends! I was told my prescription had changed substantially and I was advised to have Boots Platinum lenses on my varifocals and a pair of reading glasses for computer use. The glasses arrived a week later. The varifocal lenses suffered with bad chromatic aberration so everything in the distance had an orange fringe on the top surface for example trees and roof tops… Read Full Review

ordered my daughters glasses boots opticians wakefield they called to say they hadn't arrived and would phone on the monday. No phone call have tried calling them over two days none answers the phone and no calls from them either am really annoyed i have to take a trip there to find out whats going on.
