    As a beginner I wanted to try the soprano sax, and bought the JP 043G. When it arrived, I was well pleased with the first impressions (Chefs say that the first taste is with the eyes!)
    As a beginner I have to say I haven't touched a soprano sax before this one arrived , so I have nothing against which to compare it, but I could play a note straight away, and on my first lesson with my teacher, I moved swiftly on to the second "lesson". I can only hope it stays like that in the future - only time will tell!!
    I wish I had known more info about the variety of reeds and mouthpieces that are available before buying - just so I could have been better prepared for what to move on to when the time comes.
    The model I bought was the John Packer 043G - with a gold lacquer finish and two necks for the mouth-piece, one straight, one curved. Haven't tried the curved one yet!
