    Good Points: Cheap and very capable DVD upscaler for the money


    Bad Points: Remote fast forward and skip functions share the same buttons so can be tricky to get desired function.


    General comments: I purchased the Philips DVP 5980 player following reviews and the desire to obtain an up-scaler for a 720p projector I was using with a standard DVD player. I also didn't want to spend a `fortune' on a player which would be obsolete when blue ray players became as cheap as DVD players are now. It has only been used with the projector (as I don ' t yet own a HD TV) and the images have been very impressive and definitely provide a better picture than was being displayed from my main player. I haven ' t yet attempted the multi region hack to advise on this capability but intend to shortly. In my opinion and for the money it provides excellent value.
