We stopped here for lunch and were served very quickly despite being told that there was a wait. The public rooms are dark and old fashioned but probably what one would expect of an older village inn. There are quite a few steps so not the best if you have a mobility problem.
We were also surprised at the service charge but that meant we didn't leave a tip. Be prepared also to spend extra for your veg. We had a side salad and small plate of chips to go with our beef burgers. The £2 charge for the very small green salad seemed over the top. We should have read the menu more carefully as we thought it was included in the price. We probably won't return and rated it just marginally better than average for the price.

The Lamb Inn service at lunch friendly but rather carefree and slow. Menu rather limited. Food OK but not exciting. It lacked seasoning and bread dry and butter cheesey. Very good wine list and beers. Dining room rather tatty. Was looking for a place for a group lunch and this was not good enough. Was unhappy that 10% Service charge was included in price.

The Lamb Inn near Salisbury, offers more than just an average "pub meal", the setting is warm and cosy and the food prepared to a very high quality. Prices are more than would be paid for a run of the mill pub meal - but consistent with the quality of the food produced.
