Good Points: Traditional pub in pretty village.Food ok in terms of taste and presentation.
Bad Points: Talk about mean with the portions, I ordered Chicken and Tarragon and it came with New Potatoes and Steamed Vegetables. The amount served was pathetic - 3 potatoes and what looked like chicken scraped from the left over carcass from a Sunday joint. The "steamed" veg were quite clearly microwaved in a small bowl filled with water. If you want a meal thats good value and generous portions go to the Freke Arms about a mile down the road, I think they care more about customers there. I complained to the waitress about the portion size and her reply was that she'd told the chef when he gave her the meals, he came out to talk to 2 other customers but never approached us. Oh and watched what I presumed the landlords son to help himself behind the bar to oranje juice and lemonade, lick the bubbles in the glass and then stick the dispenser straight back into where he licked. Not pleasant.
General comments: Returned to the Jolly Tar after a 2 year absence due to a change in Landlord who seemed to think offer fish fingers was haute cuisine.
