Took over 4000 shots, and have since taken thousands more pictures. Excellent zoom capability and image quality in a very compact design. Only quibble is with the battery cover, which is worryingly... (read more)

For a "compact" camera, the Canon PowerShot S5 IS is very good and versatile. Tilt/Swiwel LCD; Good zoom range; Image stabilization; Good grip; Great video performance; Many manual controls; Flash hot shoe. Mediocre wide angle (36mm equiv.); button layout; Buttons lack sensitivity; Mediocre continuous shooting; Ridiculous lens cap (read more)

Not going to use Canon again after this experience. Optical Viewfinder is all but useless and cannot be used in sunlight. For many serious photographers, an optical viewfinder is a must.
Difficult to get clear shots on zoom without a tripod. (read more)
