Ordered, waited 16 weeks, I wasnt in when they was delivered my wife was but didnt check them properly because of our young 17 month old daughter needing her attention. “what a joke!”

Bought a 4 seater and 3 seater scatter back sofa 2/12 years ago and the cushions have flattened to about a 1/5 of the original size.Even though we do pump them up..The filling they have used is of such poor quality it cant be pumped up. WE are all suffering with back problems and sCS dont want to know. “worst customer service ever”

This company is a joke - do not deal with them under any circumstance!We ordered and paid for ( in full) £2003 in January and waited 6 weeks for delivery - nothing unusual about that. However on inspection after delivery the sofas were found to be faulty and that is when the 'fun' began. They are alright taking your money after sales just forget it. Now May been waiting since January for phone call regarding faulty corner unit my 83 year old mother bought. She cannot sit on one end unless she wants to fall down the back of the seat. Got told in February when I called them they would send a replacement cushion still waiting. “Delivery time!!”

Ordered sofa end of jan, told it would take 12 weeks, when we phoned up after 12 weeks we were told it would be another 4 weeks! Think it is disgusting we are spending this amount of money and this company are so unprofessional that they do not even phone the customer to explain that there is a delay ! “Uncaring Customer Care”

What a diabolical company. Once purchase made nobdy cares a jot about your problems. I have e-mailed and written to company Exc. and Sales Manager. Neither has had the decency to reply re my problem. I have been kept for up to 18 minutes waiting to talk to customer care but they don't really want to know. I purchased a 3 seater Lay-Z-Boy sofa in 2010 with a ten year warranty that means nothing. “Total rubbish! poor quality products!”

purchased a suite from scs for over 3k after 14 months the frame snapped when 1 person sat on what is suppose to be a 2 seater after inspection it was revealed it was built with rotten wood full of wood knots and had snapped right on a knot, as it was 14 months later and had no proof of purchase scs would not help at all even though this suite is exclusive to scs so could not have been purchased elsewhere I have never felt more ripped off (read more)

Hi,
I have successfully received money back from a similarly poor company but had to start a small claims process. It wasn't too difficult really, and never got to court as the retailer knew they'd lose, but follow the instructions and you should get your money back.

Also you don't need a receipt for proof of purchase, a bank statement will do. Ask your bank to help find the transaction.

I ordered a corner sofa from scs Telford in November 2012, upon it's arrival in December it was faulty in a big way. The sofa didn't sit flat on the floor the corner seat was hovering, all the stitching didn't line up, hardly any padding in the arm rests, really really disappointed with it. “Good and a bit bad”

I ordered new underlay and carpets from SCS including two new sofas (endurance eternity range). The carpets were fitted on time and the fitters did a fantastic job, the quality is outstanding..... BUT i am really starting to panic now after reading all these reviews on the quality of the sofas. I have a sofa from DFS which after 10 years still looks fantastic although there is some leather wear. The seat bases are still as plump as when I got it. “Delivery time”

Ordered a full suite on 04/01/13 and was told maximum 14 week wait. After 2phonecalls we are told it's due any time now, but no further information. Why can't SCS track their customer orders and provide more accurate delivery information? Very disappointed. “£50 for delivery, then they say only on a WED/THURS”

Ordered a new sofa for £800 + an Extra £59 for delivery. 9 weeks later they says that they only delivery in the Milton Keynes area on Wed & Thur each week. They are the two days in the week when we are all out at work. For £59 I would have expect a weekend delivery, or at least all 5 working days as an option. We can do Mon, Tues or Fridays so it's not us being unreasonable. (read more)

I am very sorry to hear this, we do try to keep our prices down as much as possible and ask for a contribution of £59 towards the delivery cost. I apologise that we currently only deliver on a wednesday and thursday and that no time slot can be given however the drivers will call you an hour before they arrive

Your not alone - our sofa is the same, its not the same range, but looks about 10 years old after a short period of use.

It is simply not acceptable. The quality of the base pad materials in our sofa is shocking to say the least. Have you had any more success?

Not as of yet, absolutely disgusting customer service and considering the amount of money this has cost us it is a wonder this company is still trading.
After 6 weeks of chasing, all I got was a standard answer from the 'customer service executive' which I actually read part of to him because I had read it all on these review websites! Was also told that we could get an independent upholster to look at it and that if they found a fault (which there clearly is) then they would fight our case with the manufacturer! So I asked the question so you dont at the moment?! No reply! Was however informed that I could email the cheif executive as they have no actual customer complaints procedure! We will be going to the store we brought it from at the weekend and taking a photo of their sofa just to prove that after a year or so of being in the store and people sitting on it probably alot more than ours it is in far better condition which proves the point of a fault.
Also keen to know how they can make such an assesment from 5 photos taken on a 5mp phone!

Hello,

After reviewing your account, I can see we have sent an upholsterer out to inspect the furniture, and his findings were then reviewed by our upholstery manager who confirmed that there are no manufacturing faults with the sofa, it due to the seat in question being the favoured seat as the cushions require dressing on a regular basis.

While I totally appreciate that you are not happy with this decision, we are standing by this and therefore will not be able to take this any further.

If you do wish to seek third party advice from Trading Standards, we ask that they write to us at the Head Office address which I can supply if you require.

Yet another standard response - can you not even at least do me the courtesy of even changing the words to your standard script?!
So you are now telling us another story! This just adds more weight to our claim so thank you.
You did not send an up holsterer, you send a goof with a camera phone and made your decision on that! No tests, no paperwork completed in our presence and no correspondence until I have demanded a response after 6 weeks! Secondly, the sofa cushions are supposed to be memory foam, how do you 'dress' memory foam? We have a memory foam bed and we do not have issues at all with this and its 4 years old. Absolute joke!! I am sorry are you not acutally supposed to sit on a sofa? Is this now what you are saying? We dont both sit on the same seat you know! This is a leather recliner sofa not a material sofa for your information but then again if you had checked your records then you would have known that. And for your information we regulary clean and attend to the sofa with the cleaning kit also purchased with the sofa - you can come along and check the bottles if you wish! THIS IS A MANUFACTURING FAULT AND IS CLEAR TO EVEN A NON UPHOLSTER WITHOUT A CAMERA PHONE !

The actual sofa is nice............ but that is where my compliments end. The delivery date was not stuck to and no phone call to even say that the sofa would be delayed, the sofa was put together and a wire was left hanging loose so within a few weeks was caught in the electric mechanism and cut, the sofa has now stopped working, awaiting parts (2 weeks so far). With respect I think this proves my point why does it take 5 weeks for the parts to arrive? Add on the time to get an appointment and then the time it will take once the part arrives and we could well be waiting perhaps 2 months to get the repair sorted - does SCS this this is good customer service????

It takes 5 weeks for the parts to come as they are manufactured in the far east and need to be shipped over to us.

I purchased from Scs for the very first time. My chesterfield suit was delivered Christmas week. It is 16 weeks old. My cushions are totally flat. Im always picking up loose material. When I ordered the item I was told that if I didn't want flat cushions I should order the foam filling. This wold cost more money but it will also solve problems of the material moving on the fronts and looking horrible. This has been the worst suite ever and the customer service is appalling I dont know how many times I have been in tears due to the poor customer service. I have had uppolserts out to this 4 times now and I thought it was fixed now the material has started to come away !! “Faulty sofa!!”

I purchased my two and three seater sofas in Jan 2012 and have noticed that the springs on the two seater sofa have completely broke, when u now sit on the sofa you sink! I paid £3000 for the sofas so would expect them to last longer than 14th months! I have spent endless hours on the phone to customer services to not be able speak to anybody!! Not a happy customer!!! “How to save £££'s.....read on”

If only I could turn back time,I gave away my cream leather Landmark suite,which looked a lot better than what I have now!I bought a brown leather suite from Scs,with insurance.After a few weeks,my seat started to lose it's colour.....so a man came out and spray painted it,I moved seats to see if I was the cause,and it lost it's colour again!Then when my daughter sat down I heard a clunking noise,the spring had went,scraping against my floor,the sofa has had a new spring and new padding.The... “Dissapointing”

First of all the sales man would not leave us alone in the store, after telling him we are just looking and would let him know when we had seen a sofa we liked. Whilst filling out the order form, he offered us cover for stains etc (£200) which we declined for him to then ask us another 5 times. “They can't find the carpet Iv ordered in there warehouse!”

Purchased a carpet from SCS, they gave me a date for the fitting and promised that the morning it was due to be fitted that they would call me at 9am with a time for the fitting. Our SCS 3 seater sofa was delivered to day. It wont fit through the living room door so what did they do - dump it in the hall. Spoke to branch manager at Edinburgh Newcraighall branch and he confirmed yip - it's not our responsibility to get the sofa into your intended room only into your home. “don`t buy insurance”

customer service when visiting the store was excellent up until the point that I paid for my product (cash). Carpet to stairs and landing was supposed to be fitted on Friday 5th April, booked day off work and had no contact from SCS in relation to what time the fitter would arrive, I called at 12:00 was informed that fitter would call 1 hour prior to arrival. Now told a container is due (not guaranteed) to be here on 8th May 2013...........19 weeks later. They are a rubbish outfit. Stay away. Refused to give refund. I will fight this all the way. No account number on my paperwork. Postcode L19 5NH.
Latest delivery date is 17th May 2013 which is 20+ weeks. I just want my deposit back as the service and lack of communication is dire. The store manager has promised to come back to me on Saturday after he has spoken to his boss as the store manager said he is not authorised to return deposits.

How many weeks did they put on your paperwork? On their T&Cs they allow 4weeks leniency, after this you are entitled to your deposit back.

All the hassle and stress we had with ScS we were intending to refund and told them as much. A day before our 4 weeks were up, our sofa appeared.....magic!

I had a carpet fitted on my stairs and landing carpet is coming away from 2 of the stairs contacted scs who said they would get in touch with fitter who would arrange to sort this for us ...still waiting. I have tried phoning scs all day today noone answers the phone. I will try again tomorrow. As I was just about to order a suite from SCS I thought I'd check the website. Having read the customer reviews, I am no longer going to purchase my suite from SCS. Perhaps you should read this review again, this person decided not to buy from scs, so how could he have an account number, and how will you be able to fix this. i now strongly suspect this is yet another underhanded tactic by scs to present themselves as a company with some form of creditability

“SCS should come with health warning”

I have never in my life come across a company with such a non-caring ethos from the bottom to the top. As someone else commented on this site - even the people at Headoffice don't care. sorry to hear of your experience with scs, sadly yours is a common story. we too purchased goods from scs a few years ago and underwent over 18 months of grief causing us untold stress. the attitude of this company is appalling to say the least. we eventually took scs to a small claims court when finally they gave in, refunded us and removed the goods we had purchased. but how many people will do this. i firmly believe they have a policy of deliberately trying to wear customers out so that out of sheer frustration they give up. if you do get anywhere with them please let everyone here know. if you don,t then you have my sincere sympathy.

Thank you. It's nice to know you are not the only ones. I am just trying to put it down to one of "life's mistakes"! As it really was making me ill, and we are praying that the carpet lasts long enough that we can save enough to replace it!

The awful carpet fitter did return to put right the fraying section, but was only able to do it because we happened to have kept some of the offcuts from when they fitted it in the first place. Otherwise we would have been back to square one and needed replacement - for the second time! Just hoping it doesn't happen again. makes us feel stressed every time we walk on it!

i know exactly how you feel, we kept on wondering which part of our suite was going to collapse next, scs tried to sugest that we had damaged the suite ourselves. we took consolation from the hundreds of bad reviews this company has received. we learnt a valuable lesson though. before we buy expensive items such as carpets, furniture or other household goods we now do research on the internet checking out websites like this one. take care and i hope things eventually work out for you.

My Postocde is HA2 6DP and my customer no is: 1384463. I just need to summarise my issue, I have spent more £4300 on a sofa and flooring, no one chased up my sofa order and is now 10 days late with a estimated due date of 14th May into warehouse, the wrong trim was sent for my floor and it cost me £50 to put right and to top it all off I am being offered a loan sofa and £150. So really the compensation is only £100 which I really do think is an insult as I have been chasing this for weeks and no one has been chasing this from SCS.

I think there's a delay in receiving these messages, anyhow yes they've offered me and I have had to accept a loan sofa as I don't have anything to sit on and I have had to accept the £150 reduction because that's all they can give, my point is the £150 is only worth £100 to me as I had to pay £50 for some timber when your fitters turned up. and to be very honest £100 is an insult given I've just spent nearly £4500 with you and I'm having to wait and additional 7 weeks for my sofa

This sounds familiar. We ordered a full Lazeeboy suite for delivery early April. Rang the store last week and was told it would be in their warehouse this week. Rang again on Thursday only to be told eventually that they could not trace our paperwork and would call back. They did call to say that there was now a four week delay in delivery and it would not be here until mid May. Got some waffle from the Manager about him remembering us because we haggled quite a bit over the price but he assured us that we would not have got the delivery any earlier if we had paid in full ( we paid £1100 deposit !). Having read other reviews I'm beginning to wonder if you drive a hard bargain then they wait until they have a container full of 'seconds' and that's what you get! Hope not because they've picked the wrong person to try that trick on !!

Hi, I don't think its got anything to do with driving a hard bargain because I didn't, I payed the full price albeit there was an offer for a free power upgrade. I just think the whole SCS ethos is just rubbish. I eventually got a loan sofa on Friday but I wish I didn't as its not comfortable and its just some cheepy thing they had in the showroom but hey they've got £1000 of my money in deposit for the new sofa so unfortunately their pulling the shots, at the moment!!

my heart goes out to you all who have had the misfortune to deal with scs. my wife and i had similar problems a few years ago. i decided to return to this site to see if anything had changed but judging by what i am reading it appears not. what amazes me is that scs are able to continue trading after the hundreds of complaints and bad reviews they have received. this person [name removed] doesn,t appear to be much help either, she merely repeats what you have already been told and obviously has no real clout within the company. i suspect this is a tactic to try and fend off the many complaints anf bad reviews they are receiving. perhaps scs are on the brink of bankrupcy, lets hope so because too many decent people are being ripped off. if you do have any success please let us know.

“Never again! AVOID”

I bought a £1000 sofa. I got misled by the salesman. Whilst I wanted a 3 seater I got delivered a 2 seater. The store claim they call it 2.5 seater and so I should be happy about it. Cushions are popping out, sagging, steel frame can be felt right through. Their upholsterer came out and said it's such a DESIGN and nothing he can do about it. He also advise me that in B&Q they can advise what to buy to fix it myself at my own expense. All this after just 1 month of using it. (read more)

Spent over £2000 on a 3 seater, 2 seater and twister chair around june time delivery was fine. Since having the sofa recliner has snapped in half which was fixed by inserting a new plank of wood. Since then we have had bolts falling out of the sofa, one of which my one year old daughter had found, luckly i saw it straight away and she did not attempt to swallow it! My problem still hasnt been dealt with, all thats happened is youve tried to send the repair team out again. As iv said numerous times before, its been fixed once i do not want it fixed again! It is faulty and completely UNSAFE for my child! All i am asking for is to exchange my sofa for something that is safe an will not break every few months.

I realise i have had my sofa over 28 days but this is not just a pair of faulty shoes, is an unsafe broken sofa than i have paid over £2000 cash for. Its been fixed once and numerous bolts have fallen out, you have sold me a completely unsatisfactory set of sofas. I am outraged by the service i have recieved!

Surely there are exceptions seeing as the sofa is completely unsafe for my one year old child, as shes finding bolts that fall out from your product. It has been 'fixed' before hand how many times do i need to have it fixed or screws fall out before SCS admit they are selling defult products to there customers?

I honestly believe you should deal with cases more personally and not just read from a script youve been given. Iv requested a manager contact me with sereral of your CSAs whom claim its not the managers job to speak to me which i find appaling!

beau11, your story reminds me of our experince with scs. our suite was in danger of complete collapse but worse still long sharp staples like nails were protruding from one of our sofas. we took many photos and sent them to both the store we bought the suite from and scs head office. amazingly when we were about to take them to court they asked for copies of our photos since we told them we would be presenting them as part of our evidence. they claimed to have lost the ones we had sent them. these are the sort of people you are dealing with. they are hoping that they will wear you down to the point that you give up. but please don,t. they don,t care about you or your child. our sofa was declared as dangerous by an independent upholsterer. we fought for over 18 months then just as we appeared for our first hearing at the small claims court they suddenly gave in and offered us a full refund. [Name removed] is just another faceless member of scs with no power to help customers, another tactic to wear you out and a feeble attempt to attach some form of creditability to scs. read all the reviews, you are not alone so i hope you can at least get some small measure of comfort from this. take care. regards wolfburgman

“Scs Sofa”

Bought a large corner and 4 seat sofa from this company all I can say is never again ! In the process of trying to get a refund at the moment i spent a lot of money for a defective product which was replaced a couple of wks ago this one is even worse ! The corner sofa has a large nail sticking out of the back this is the more serious of the defects there are many others I have spent two wks trying to speak to the store manager with no joy he is always "too busy" I wouldn't recommend buying... We purchased a Sparks 3 seater and large chair in August 2011 and paid cash to secure the deal. The suite we ordered was a stunning white to match our decor indoors. “Awful quality sofas and after sales”

Please do not buy from these people we have had 2 lots of sofas from them the Windsor 3 and 2 seater sofas. In the first pair a spring went, the sofa had only been in our house less than 9 hours. On the second set, we had the sofas less than 5 days and a bar underneath the sofa broke when my 13 year old daughter sat on it. i purchased a lazy boy for 3 grand, the lads that bought it were very pleasant, well mannered etc, no issues. sofa on one panel was lopsided, the bloke wrote this on the delivery note. contacted local store where i bought it from, who referred me to the customer services. had to wait a week for someone to have a look. bloke came out took pics. had a letter few weeks later saying that as it wasnt a manufacturing fault and suggested i refer to the care pack and that they would not be doing... “Never Again!”

I spent almost £3000 on carpets for my house. The quality of the carpets are good so far, been only a couple of weeks since having them fitted, so will have to wait and see what the condition is after a couple of months. The worst part is their fitting. Very careless and un-professional. They do not clean up after themselves, and left waste that could have filled a skip. ....and i can,t believe that if you were so pleased with scs you didn,t do us the courteousy of letting us know who you are, what you bought and where from. also very few people complained about measurements, most have complained about poor quality products and appalling after care service. perhaps it might be the case that you work with scs??
