“Worst I've had”

Took out a policy 2yrs ago, on inception they tried to increase premium by £36 because of No Claims Discount. Sent them documentation confirming 14yrs NCD, they put it down as nine, but did reduce back to original premium. Last year, despite no claims or accidents the premium rose by 7% and this year by 21% despite no claims. On speaking to them I was told this was because I was another year older, the only change in that time. Not happy with their service in any way… Read Full Review

“over 50s car insurance ”

Parent's have saga insurance and we're so pleased that when they had an accident, Saga said they would sort everything out. Over a year later the claim is still going on. Parents have had no support or guidance from Saga or Argent Medicare. Parents in theirs 70's and 80's have been left to figure out medical forms, sent for medicals with a doctor who has no qualification in their injuries. I have insured my vehicle with them for years never made a claim. Decided to change my vehicle and asked for a quote which was astronomical compared to others. The couldn't care less attitude by the person on the phone was rude to say the least. I decided to take my business elsewhere and that's when the problems arose. “Appalling customer service”

Had to make a claim after someone drove into me. Car was collected the following day - I was impressed. 10 days later I collected the car, they had only replaced the rear light and hadn't repaired the bodywork. They then sent me a cheque and told me to arrange the repairs myself! Apparently this is their standard service. I now have take time off work for the car to be repaired ! If I could Mark these with no star I would ! After applying to insure my husbands car he then had to go to work in another country taking his car off the road for 1 year we cancelled and paid up and then 3weeks later we had a notice to take us to the debt collectors and court for the sum of £6 which was for cancelling the policy, when I telephoned and paid I said that I felt it was a bit over the top to send out threatening letters rather than just a note to say you owe £6 cancellation fees!… Read Full Review

Still taking money from my bank account for a car I sold over 6 months previously. I informed them to cancel the policy as they could not provide the type of policy I was looking for my new car. “Small print and no policy documentation”

Saga provided a good quote as I'm now over 50. However after having to provide extra documentation at the out set of policy, I didn't receive any documentation through the post as promised. I chased this up, was told it would be sent out in 3 to 5 days but still didn't receive anything. I've just moved so notified them by email as thought that would be easiest method. “Absolutely appalling”

Following being hit by another car in a car park, whilst parked, which was witnessed by another driver, Saga have been a nightmare to deal with. Because it was a no fault claim and they had a witness statement, Saga passed the case to Claim Fast to arrange a hire car and arrange repairs. “Quick, stress-free response to a problem”

“Absolute robbers”

I'm a loyal SAGA customer. My motor insurance quote went UP, despite my milage going down. Comparison websites gave me quotes of £200 less - half the price. SAGA claim to do a price match, a route to a hassle free renewal.......or so I thought. “WATCH OUT FOR SMALL PRINT!”

Returned to Saga after a poor claims experience with Direct Line about 10 years ago. Stuck with them though could have got cheaper insurance elsewhere because of their claims promises. Two weeks after my car was run into, loads of expensive and lengthy phone calls, passed onto another company, misinformation - I am still in Limbo. They are not "fighting my corner" because 3rd party does not admit they were wrong. Customer Services say "can't help on this phone number". “Overloaded and incompetent customer service”

I switched my car insurance to Saga Select - WHAT A DISASTER! - their so-called "customer service" is totally overloaded. As a result, they did not acknowledge my notice of NCD and cancelled my insurance after 26 days. When I complained and asked how much I was going to get back assuming I should pay 26/365ths of the total premium. Have had the exact same problem with Saga.... My No claims proof is in the post yey nthey say they are going to cancel my insurance today 05/01/15 if the NCD is not received.. Utter disgrace... !!!

“Terrible handling of non-fault claim”

Accident! Stopped at pedestrian crossing, was rear-ended at approx 2 mph - Offending driver admitted liability (was late for picking up her child from school). Damage - rear bumper split, no personal injury. PROGRESS REPORT (or rather, lack of ??)
Car was collected Monday by the Weleyn Garage. Today is Friday (3 p.m)
Enterprise delivered a hire car on Monday (we then had to trek over to Bedford, 12 miles away, to do the paperwork)
Today is Friday - no sign of the car, though we've had several "ambulance-chaser" calls from Saga, each asking about injuries. (There are none).

HAD THIS BEEN REPAIRED BY THE FORD MAIN DEALER, 2 miles away -
1/ they would have ordered the needed panel for next day delivery, pre-painted as it's a standard Ford colour.
2/ They would have called us to deliver our car in the morning, and provided a courtesy car.
3/ They would have called us in the afternoon when the fitting was complete (approx 1 hour's work, they thought) and we would have returned their courtesy car and collected ours. Total time without our car - approx 6 hours

Cost - the repairs using genuine Ford panel, plus 1 day car hire.
We, the customer, would have our car back same day.

ACTUALITY - (5 days to date, as yet, no sign of repaired car)
Cost of lowloader to collect and deliver to (their) selected repairer (NOT a Ford dealership) - I checked - £144.91 incl VAT (so double that for return delivery).
Enterprise car hire quote for 1 week - £110.43.
So, before ther repair even starts, there's £400.25 added to the claim
And, we've been without our car for 5 days (and counting).
The probability is part of the delay is caused by them using a non-Ford panel (thus needing spraying and 3 day cure period) That's what happened on my daughter's Ford - private repair, slightly cheaper in parts cost,

In this case the saving is totally wiped out by the delivery and hire car costs.

Whilst these costs are covered by insurance, the vast majority of this £400 is unnecessary

Multiply that unnecessary cost by the number of Saga claims - that's all added to next years premiums.
