“Systems unfit for purpose, they don't care”

Another loyal customer lost, and they are still causing problems for me with my new, excellent, Motor Insurer. You would think it simple for a Motor Insurer to swap a policy from one car to another. “Saga Response: Get lost, sort it it out yourself”

Been with SAGA insurance for all my policies for a number of years, car, buildings, contents etc. First claim on home premier contents insurance for accidental damage to a machine kept in my garage in over 10 years. Reported incident and SAGA insurance refused to send out a Qualified assessor. Made 4 formal complaints over 5 days since the incident, no action and now I find out only the last compliant one has been logged. Hence, I believe false record keeping has occurred. “Motorhome Insurance Quote”

After receiving numerous emails and letters asking me to get a quote for upcoming insurance i gave in thinking I might save a few pounds. “Saga insurance car repair, lack of care and competence ”

On 4th April I received a letter from Saga Car Insurance saying "Our repairs team will be in contact with you to discuss the repairs...within the next 5 working days" As at 27th May I have received no contact...so not within 5 days...not even in 50 days. After lots of phone calls from me, on 13th May, the Saga repairer collected my fairly large estate car and left me a "small hatchback" as per policy. My car was hit by out of control car,after 45 mins to saga told not to worry,car would be picked up that day,hire car set up and no claims bonus safe as open and shut case!!! “Seriously fail to do what they promise.”

At this time of year, for the past 10 years or more, I've searched around for a renewal of my car insurance. Always, I get taken in my the Saga TV adverts and ask for one from them, because I'm over 50 and long retired. Guess what? From a dozen other insurers my premium would be £200-300. But from Saga? £561. On one occasion, I was told I was too young to apply. I assumed that was a software glitch. “SAGA - Stay Away Get Another”

I have had various policies with SAGA and have noticed they are getting increasingly more expensive. I changed my car and the quotation given to me for cover was vastly over priced in comparison to other providers. “Great Service after my stationary car was hit”

I tried to get a quote from Saga beginning of February, my car was returning from Spain and needed re-registering and British insurance. It is now the third week of March, I never did get a quote, just a lot of rubbish about the underwriters ringing me back etc. Joke. The agents answering phones are far too young, totally inexperienced with people over 65 and they call themselves experts with the elderly! “Will not use Saga again”

I had a no fault claim and it was a difficult dealing with Saga. I was rear end shunted and the customer service was poor. I was given wrong information about the repair company being BMW approved but when I contacted them it wasn't. “saga so called car insurance”

Went to comparison site for car insurance, saga came out out very cheap at £116-30. I contacted them to take go ahead with the insurance and all of a sudden the price is £ 187-60, when asked why the price difference they cannot find the quote and have said that the price must have been for my partner to be the main driver and i am a named driver. “Appalling Service”

A year ago another driver undertook me at a roundabout with the intention of getting ahead of me into lane we both wanted. We had a small collision. I reported the accident to the police and Saga the following morning. I had a passenger in my car who corroborated my account of the accident: the other driver was alone. I am experiencing exactly the same with Saga. Almost identical circumstances. Driver in right hand lane ignored warnings of lane closure. When lane disappeared he drove across chevrons, cut across in front of me then braked heavily. My front offside hit his rear nearside showing he was at an angle across my path. I phoned the police who would not come out because no-one injured.
Sent in photographs of road layout and diagrams. Saga's response was to payout immediately. 17 years no claims wiped out.

Saga don't appear to have a dedicated department or claims handler. I have six 0845 numbers and have spoken to at least 8 different people. I have spent a ridiculous amount of time listening to automated messages and waiting for someone to answer the call Then waiting all day for a return call that never came.
Customer service is non existent. I will never use Saga again.

First tried to change a car on the policy and instead of receiving a new certificate containing new reg no for remaining policy expiry date...received a complete policy renewal and took £400 without consent! Then trying to get NCB letter sent out and this seems to be the hardest task and still hasn't arrived due to many complications! “The worst insurance company i have ever dealt with in...”

Saga is the worst insurance company i have ever had the misfortune to deal with. I had a scrape on my bumper and rubbed it out with rubbing compound, the other car had the same, Saga agreed to pay £700 to £800 to have the other car repaired and took 10 years no claim bonus from me, I complained and was fobbed off and told if i did not like it complain to the ombudsman. I will never ever deal with saga again with any of their products and would advise other to beware of this company… Read Full Review

About 6 months ago I had an accident. I was not at fault, my car was repaired by Saga approved garage but the repair was not to my satisfaction I have now given up chasing my insurance and their garage and I will have to repair the car at my own cost. I am still awaiting the outcome of my no claim bonus, compensation and so on. These should have been sorted long before. It has been a nightmare to contact Saga by phone (long wait and high call charges) but there is no one who could be of help

I wish I had read these reviews before accepting their quote. Hardest people to do business with in the industry ( and I've had motor insurance for 25 years in this country). Following acceptance of the quote, they submerged me with administration requests, which took weeks to sort out. They then found that one of the papers I had sent wasn't fully compliant and they decided to cancel my policy. “Terrible service to a loyal customer”

I have telephoned Saga today with a query and find that despite being told that my address had changed when I renewed my vehicle insurance Saga had neglected to change it. The operative was polite but extremely unhelpful and informed me that a invoice for a further £9 would be sent to me and until I had recieved it and paid I was uninsured. “OK, be wary of their repair network if claiming”

I recently had to make a claim as a result of someone driving into my stationary, unattended car in a supermarket car park then driving off. Since Saga could not pursue the guilty party, my claim was not classed as a 'no fault' claim - the first in my 40 year driving history. To be fair, this is probably standard practice in the industry. “They settle claims - without reference to policy holder”

We took a policy out for my car, which covered our daughter. Not only when you ring them do they deny this is one of their policies, but when they have found it they are often terse and/or rude. My daughter had an accident and wrote my car off. She was taken, by ambulance, to hospital. We have not claimed on the policy.
