I've only just insured with them. They got the age of car wrong, citing the DVLA database as their source of information to justify a last-minute hike to their quote, because (they said) I had a "newer car" than they thought. I checked with the DVLA, whose data was correct, so there was no reason for SAGA to have information that contradicted what I had given. Then I had to fight to get back the original quote. Maybe they were disappointed that I hadn't taken the 2-driver policy that was more expensive and so they compensated in an inventive way. Do they do this to others? If so, it's an insurer's scam, while we're used to hearing about driver scams!

Have had two accidents for which I was not at fault. The latest one September 2008 when on holiday a car ran into the rear of mine whilst I was stationary waiting to get onto a roundabout. Obtained details of driver took photographs and as car was runable deferred repairs untill I arrived home. I have now received a letter saying that due to no Police report I am at fault on this matter and will lose no claims. Previous claim not settled involved car being damaged by gravel dropping from ...

A driver, who for some reason decided to overtake as our car as it was turning right, drive into the front drivers side . Though told many times to claim from this driver they treated it as joint responsibility with potential loss of no claims bonus. They said the other driver just refused to reply to any letters but in the end they did agree to take it to court two years after the accident. But after all this the car insurance was moved and they then promptly dropped the outstanding claim w ...

lets start with the fsct it.s an 0845 number, so no matter where you call from YOU ARE CHARGED and that can cost a fortune from a moble especially as they have a minute of rubbish before you evcen get to your choice . unless you have the value bt pack.

my mate had a heart attack at the wheel and no-one else was involved , and the car just had a small dent on the left hand side.

My husband took insurance with Saga when he reached 50 year before last, the quote was reasonable and we decided to go ahead, didn't make a claim and in fact he NEVER has in over 30 years of driving. When we came to renew the cost has gone up quite a bit but they said they would match ANY quote so he rang them with a better quote from AXA only to be told, "sorry we can't match that" and that was that. We proceeded with other company One Call who are underwritten by AXA,6 MONTHS after we got the ...

35 years no claims and not even a speeding ticket. Bumped another car which Saga paid out £338 for. Although I still have 60% NCB they have hiked up my renewal price from £286 to £705.96.
I phoned to complain but they never got back to me as promised. Have also written but no reply. I won't be taking out their insurance or renewing all my other insurances with them. I am now hearing from other friends who have had the same experience. Saga obviously don't give a damn about thei ...

I assumed that Saga Car Insurance would be reputable as they are well known and deal with the older client. I had a windscreen smashed and a tom-tom stolen last September. I couldn't get through to their call-centre for advice. When I did, I was told to use THEIR windscreen company. I phoned them and couldn't get through. I chose MY windscreen company and had a new screen within an hour. Saga firstly refused to pay for this! They also refused to pay for a new tomtom as I had purchased a slightly ...

When I tried to re-new my tax disc on line I discovered to my horror that my car had no insurance despite the fact that I had an insurance certificate. When I phoned Saga I was told that the policy had been cancelled 3 months earlier and car was not insured. The policy had been cancelled automatically as payment had not 'gone through'. I then phoned my Visa Card provider who were able to confirm that payment had never been requested. Saga said they could re-instate policy but this could take at ...

My wife was hit by a third party (rear end collision). Claim made to Saga and repair carried out to our satisfaction.
HOWEVER still waiting for excess (£350) to be returned after third party insurer admitted liability. This despite Nine Months since the accident and numerous phone calls to them over the last two months to find out why excess not repaid.I have been told they will call me back over the matter repeatedly.HOWEVER yes you've guessed it they never do. Would we insure with Saga ag ...

    ********************* SAGA MOTOR INSURANCE **************************
Renewed insurance at end of June, money taken from my Visa account.

I subsequently cancelled before insurance was due to start 1st July.

Money has srill not been returned to my account despite 4 phone calls and numerous assurances that it would.

The money should not have been taken out of my account before the policy was due to start.

Made first claim on Saga Car Insurance after 15+ years protected NCD. Claim went smoothly, but renewal premium went from £280 to £670. Argued the point over the protected NCD to no avail. They quote the policy which says that in event of claim, the NCD will be protected, but they can hike the full amount to anything they choose. eg full premium =£1000 last year (£350 after full NCD), this year £2000 full premium (£700 after full NCD).

Over 50's be warned che ...

I had a letter from Saga stating the insurance renewal was due in June 2009 and that I did not need to do anything as it would be done automatically. On checking my next credit card statement expecting to see the insurance premium from Saga, I saw it hadn't been paid, I phoned Saga and was told the renewal had been cancelled but they couldn't tell me why. They stated I should have received 3 further letters requesting payment which I haven't had, I requested dates these letters were sent but was ...

When I took motor insurance online with Saga in 2008 I opted to pay the full amount as I always do but they contacted me later to inform me the payment had not gone through and persuaded me to pay in 4 instalments at no extra cost. I didn't realise at the time that this means they keep your credit card details and use them to automatically renew the policy.

The renewal premium was 29% more than the previous year's. The accompanying letter from Saga advised me to contact them if my credit card d ...

    Saga are absolutely pathetic.
Last summer I notified Saga that someone has dented my car door but that I was not making a claim.
When I got the renewal lasr week they has increased the premium by nearly 50% due they said "to the claim". When they checked they agreed there was no claim and promised to reduce the premium.
The next renewal notice was an INCREASE so i ramg them again. This time they said they would restore my NCD. Good of them when I pay for protected NCD .
This they did but the prem ...

My father had an accident in April 2009. He is a pensioner and insured through Saga.
The accident was not his fault and the other driver admited responsibility.
Saga are apparently unable to get in touch with the other drivers insurance company even though my father has had verbal and written communication with this other insurance company. Saga are with holding £250 exess from my fathers claim because of this.

I've just had my renewal notice from Saga car insurance. I've had no problems, changed nothing, no claims, no changes. At a time when the inflation rate is negative and the RPI is 2 or 3% they want to charge me an extra 14% for exactly the same thing !!!
