Iobtained this car in january 2007 and have been let down with it,It has blind spots because of the wide posts between the front windscreen and the door posts i have had 5 near misses because of this and have been informed by friends that they have had simular experiences withthis model and the modus.I think the company should look at this problem… Read Full Review

“I've had my Vauxhall Zafira 1.8 Comfort SE people...”

Written on: 01/09/2004 by Hazel Winters (2 reviews written)

I've had my Vauxhall Zafira 1.8 Comfort SE people carrier for 8 months, and it is very economical. The one problem I had is that the spare wheel has been stolen, and Vauxhall don't care. This is a common problem with these cars as the wheel is kept in a cradle under the boot, and anyone with a screwdriver, or a strong arm, can reach under the car and open the cradle to steal the wheel. When you ring Vauxhall, they don't care, as you have to buy a new wheel from them, and extra security which… Read Full Review

“We have had this Vauxhall Zafira 1.8 Comfort SE people...”

Written on: 04/08/2004 by M Glazer (2 reviews written)

We have had this Vauxhall Zafira 1.8 Comfort SE people carrier for a few months having previously had a Galaxy. What a revelation!

Whilst its a bit noisier than the Galaxy its so much more practical. Its smaller, so much easier to park and the seating arrangement allows the car to be turned from a seven seater into a van in about 30 seconds. The biggest problem with the Galaxy and ALL other cars of that type is the requirement to remove AND store the seats which are heavy, so you often don't… Read Full Review

“I hired an 04 reg Vauxhall Zafira 1.8 Comfort SE...”

Written on: 30/07/2004 by brucei497 (1 review written)

I hired an 04 reg Vauxhall Zafira 1.8 Comfort SE people carrier to carry myself, wife, 2 teenage sons, my daughter & fiance to Scotland for a weeks holiday. The severe lack of luggage space allowed us only 2 medium sized cases (1 in rear space,1 resting on arm rest between middle row seats) and a couple of holdalls.
When accelerating to keep up with traffic, especially on dual carriageways / motorways, the need to get into 5th gear quickly to maintain acceleration was annoying.

On the plus… Read Full Review

Zafiraone's Response to brucei497's Review

The reviewer seems to have made the wrong choice of hire car for a weeks holiday involving 6 people. I think an Espace or a minibus would have been perhaps a better choice and would have given them the much needed boot space. For medium duration teenager and grandparent 'taxi service' it cannot be beaten. Collecting your teenagers and their extra unexpected pals from a night-club / skate-park etc when number of bodies to be carried in safety is more important than load space. For holidays it is a case of loading the roof bars or a trailer on the rear.

“I have had a Vauxhall Zafira 1.8 Comfort SE People...”

Written on: 12/07/2004 by Sipnogard (7 reviews written)

I have had a Vauxhall Zafira 1.8 Comfort SE People Carrier for about three months now and quite often do trips lasting up to three hours or more. I found out very quickly that at 6 foot I am far to tall to drive it comfortably. The drivers seat is to low and close to the pedals causing intense back and leg ache (there is more leg room in a Corsa).
It does't matter what speed you try and take a corner at, you can go as slow as you like the car will still feel as if it is trying it's hardest to… Read Full Review

“The key stuck in the ignition and the car is only 25...”

Written on: 18/05/2004 by bmwman (1 review written)

The key stuck in the ignition and the car is only 25 months old. This is not covered on the warranty neither is the stearing column which has to be replaced at a cost of £700 so that the lock can be changed. Customer care "dont care" they say its down to wear & tear. 3 dealerships have had a go at this. Now getting very frustrated… Read Full Review

The Vauxhall Zafira 1.8 Comfort SE is bland boring, feels slightly unsafe to drive - a bit exposed. Slow heating all that space. Legroom is insufficient unless only kids in the back. Needs a side sliding door. No luggage space. Overall buy something else… Read Full Review

The comments made relating to:- Legroom is insufficient unless only kids in the back. No luggage space etc are not I feel, a valid comment. These are points that should have been detected by the reviewer before purchase when perhaps a far larger car should have been obtained. We feel our car matches our requirements very well.

Stumacca's Response to Blooman's Review

I disagree with this review because... mine averages 35-40mpg if driven normally, legroom fine and the 125bhp unit pulls well and is sufficient for a sprightly drive if you want speed and power then buy the VXR version. Only fault I have had in five years is the water washer bottle sensor. Great on my back too love the adjustable seats and the fact that you can convert rear seats without leaving at side of road.

“Bought this Vauxhall Zafira 1.8 Comfort SE about 2...”

Written on: 02/11/2003 by mchurchill (1 review written)

Bought this Vauxhall Zafira 1.8 Comfort SE about 2 weeks ago and i can say that it is the most flexable car i have ever owned. The seating options leave it open for any purpose, like shopping, going to the tip, buying kitchen worktops, taking the family to the airport for holidays (with ALL their luggage!) the options are endless. Although on the downside, these 1.8 16v models have a rather annoying fault that the car will cut out or stall when the throttle housing get a bit dirty, and the only… Read Full Review

So what you are really saying to us is if we are buying second hand, make sure we get the warrenty that states the 'cut out problem' is fixed. Or we walk..........

“Got a Y-plate, 28k 1.8 manual. ”

Got a Y-plate, 28k 1.8 manual.
Like the previous review I love the way that you can do away with the 2 seats in the rear and the midlle row without having to take any out - several trips to the dump have not been as bad a problem as clearing up the mess in the back after rtning !. Maybe should have gone for the TD version as 25mpg is a little steep - but I guess thats what you get for driving a small van. Even on the M-way 35mpg is tops.
Only probs I've had with this Network-q vehicle was an… Read Full Review

Written on: 15/03/2002 by bill_belfield. (1 review written)

The Vauxhall Zafira 1.8 Comfort SE is an excellent, practical family car. So versatile. So what if it doesn't look as chic as a Scenic, they ain't got 7 seats !!. A massive boot in 5 seat mode, loads of leg, shoulder and headroom in all seats, Can't ask for more. The SE has AC, ABS, TC, CD, full electrics, dual airbags, alloys, front fogs, metallic paint… Read Full Review

The scenic now has a 7 seater as does VW with the Touran, that has a reputation for not being up to the VW brand.
I have a Zafira for a couple of months and noticed two main differences from the previous VW golf we bought. No problems at all, so still great reliability.
Dealer network - a lot less professional than VW, they really avoid to honour warranties on cars that people bought on other dealerships.
Design - some annoying gaps between seats and "boot" cover, screen wipers are short.

I have had a 1.8 Comfort Zafira since March 2001 - 26,000 + miles and it has not missed a beat. An amazing car with stunning flexibility - will I buy another - definitely!

20K mile update.

Let me see, what's gone wrong. Interior light bulb blown, I reckon that's it. Only other problem and not the car's fault is water in the fuel, engine fault management kicked in and applied traction control to limit power till fixed, Shell paid to have tank drained !!..
To re-iterate, absolutely superb, this car is the 'swiss army knife' of practicality. Take this sunday, 6 up, dropped four off en route, convert to 2 seat mode, went to pick up a dining table and four chairs, quick trip to the tip, mad dash shopping trip, 64 litres of bottled water !!, pick up our 2 dogs for a walk in the country, pick up 2 passengers, all within a couple of hours and no pain or swapping seats's.

Try doing that with an Espace or Galaxy !

These models just keep getting better. Now March 2003 and new models are wiping the floor with the competition. This review is still pertinent today.
