Good Points: It's OK, pretty good soundtrack, Natalie Portman is quite good.
Bad Points: Nothing much happens, bit slow. Zach Braff can't do sincere!
General comments: Don't watch Garden State if you are expecting laugh out load surreal humour like Scrubs. Do watch it if you have nothing better to do!
Written, directed by and staring Zach Braff of Scrubs fame; this is yet another of those American coming of age, not a lot happens, problem with my parents, mid-life crisis at 25 films (you know the ones I mean!).
Braff plays 'Largeman', a struggling actor who has to go home to small-town America for his mum's funeral. It turns out he hasn't been home in a very long time after being drugged up and shipped off to boarding school by his psychologist father following 'an event'. Whilst home he has a bit of an awakening, helped by the fact all his old friends are stuck in small-town taking drugs of the non-legal variety. He's also helped by meeting quirky compulsive liar Portman (why do American's seem to like these cute compulsive liar characters...).
Not at lot happens, but you won't be left feeling depressed or anything!!!
