I have just bought my second pair of Burma's, no decision really as the first pair were so good, I am a keen walker and have used the first pair for at least 8 years, they are still good to go but I have worn the soles down so much that the lugs are starting to disappear, so it was either re-sole or a new pair. I don't treat them regularly, a bit of dubbin every few months left to soak over night; I do wash them as soon as i get home and dry them in a cool room, some (not all) of the... (read more)

Hello all, I have had my Meindl boots for a couple of years, I liked them so much I bought a second pair. Last week I took myself off walking in Snowdonia. To my surprise the sole of my boot came off at the top of the mountain. I had to carefully make my way down with one boot and a what can best be described as a ski!!!! Quite tricky as I suffer from Ms and am a little unsteady on my feet at the best of times. On closer inspection after I returned home the other boot is coming apart.... (read more)

Last year I bought my fourth pair of these boots. I had got to the stage where I didn't need to make a decision because the previous three piars had been perfect, lasting 4-5 years each (I do a lot of hiking). But the latest pair started to fall apart after one month, with the rubber coming away and the leather starting to split, despite regularly applying the recommended proofer. One year on and they are leaking badly and in the trash. I tried to contact Meindl several times to see what... (read more)

The factory moving to china must have come as a surprise to the people of Kirchanschoering in Germany where meindl have been making boots for over a century. Especially so as many of them still work there and I can testify from personal on-site observation that these boots are still made in the same place to the same standard as before. This reviewer seems to have fallen for a piece of fairy tale information.

Fair enough. I didn't know that. But this doesn't alter the fact that my latest pair were not up to the same standard as before, and Meindl failed to reply to my correspondance. Both of these facts have caused me to buy Alt-berg boots instead (made in the UK), and Meindl have lost my long term loyalty. I don't really care where they are made, but I do care about the quality and the customer care.

Bought these to replace an earlier pair which after two years were leaky and with crumbling edges of the soles (probably from cowpats not cleaned off). I've been wearing this pair for gardening most weekdays from October to April, and on wet days through the summer too, for the best part of two years. So I've worn them I estimate between 300 and 400 times. I don't clock up huge mileages but the boots have to work quite hard. They are still not leaking, which surprises me, because I've never... Bought pair of Burmas in June 2012 as fed up with the quality of Brashers Comfortable out of the box and improved however at 140 miles I had wet Left Foot despite treating as reccomended after each walk.the left boot them leaked at the mear suggestion of wet grass very disapointing At 236miles returned them to Cotswold Outdoor who replaced them with new pair no quibble excellent service. Not yet used new boots lets hope they are better than last pair. (read more)

I'm compelled to write this just to balance some highly negative reviews that I don't think give a very fair impression of the quality of these boots. I'm currently on my second pair, with a third pair ready for action, and I easily got over 1500km from the first pair (though that's an estimate) and care showing signs that they'll eventually crack at the toe (maybe another 2-300km). That compares to about 800km from lightweight fabric boots. It works out at 10p a km! They've seen serious... (read more)

OVER PRICED RUBBISH !! I bought a pair of these and had to return them with in a month and a half and got a replacement pair which failed just as badly. I looked after the leather with the recommended products but the leather still deteriorated. Also the sole material deteriorated as well and started to grumble at the point where your foot bends behind the toe area , The inside lining also split at the heal very quickly in both pairs of boots , The boots where reasonably water tight and warm... I've been hiking quite a lot in several types of boots, but after just two days of hiking with these boots, the pain in my heels was so bad that I actually put them off and went the rest of the way barefoot, feeling much better as soon as I did so. I later bought some sandals for the rest of the way and had no further trouble. These boots may seem good at first, but once you've walked with them for long enough your achilles tendons feel like they're about to rupture if you will walk with... (read more)

I purchased a pair of these 2 1/2 years ago to walk the dog with. I am hard wearing on shoes so I paid top dollar, unfortunately they have fallen short of my expectations whilst they have also fallen apart. Both soles are coming away and the leather split at the toe. Be under no illusions - I LOVE these boots but I have been dissapointed at the build quality and the lack of longevity as a consequence. I really want to buy another pair but it is a tough sell to the wife... (read more)

I've had these Meindl Burma Pro boots for 2 years now. I wear them to walk my dogs. I wear them when it rains and when it's cold, so most of the time. When I bought them my number 1 concern was "will they crack at the toe flex point?". The reviews I read seemed to suggest that these boots weren't susceptible to cracking, so I splashed out and bought some. They were £150 per pair so I hoped that they would last. They have been outstandingly robust. You could say stiff, but I like the feeling... (read more)

I had had a pair for at least 7 years. They have been the best pair I have ever used in 40 years. Now just beginning to show signs of age - heel wearing down a bit etc., so I have just ordered another pair. I cannot say better than that. Confortable and waterproof. (read more)

Had the boots for over a year now and am really pleased.
Previously owned two pairs of brasher hillmasters, the first pair i still have after 16 years which have been resoled twice they are cracking around the front where they flex even after regular waxing/polishing. The second pair split at the same point and went in the bin after a couple of years.
The Meindls show no signs of wear even after regular immersion in puddles streams muddy fields etc.
Although they are well looked after with...

I bought some a few years ago and only used them six times they are like new except the soles have rotten away and fell off , the company offered to mend them for £75 then sent them back , quite disgusted and will never buy again
