Bad Points: its a little on the heavy side meaning that you'll need sling and sling swivels fitted if carrying for extended periods of time in the field.can be tricky to strip and maintain
General comments: the BSA goldstar is a very nice rifle indeed ,and british too. for maximum reliability keep the ten shot mag spotlessly clean and oil regularly but sparingly with fine machine oil.power is on the limit at11.8 ft lbs ..can be tuned for a smoother and sweeter action .these rifles are becoming harder to find in good condition.good examples comanding high prices.i paid £320 for mine in 2008 ...
10shot magazine, underlever design, accurate, excellent finish.reliable.smooth to shoot.the scope mounting dampens recoil to the scope.particularly like the underlever holding mechanism on this rifle compared with the HW97 which has a some what noisy and tricky mechanism to operate

This is a fine rifle, I bought mine second hand over 12 years ago. In this time the rifle has done me proud. Many a rabbit has fallen to the goldstar which is good up to 40 or so yards. The mag has been a bit of a pain but a friend put it through an ultrasonic oil parts bath and it seems to have a new lease of life.
My advise would be to take the rifle to a range or legal shoot and get to know the sounds and visuals of the magazine when it loads and indexes. I know if mine fails so i dont dry f ...- Read Guest's review (138 words)

Which pellets shoot best in yours Chris, I've tried 6 different makes but can't often get 5 in a 1/2" group, RWS Superpoints seem to be the best so far. You won't have any trouble fitting a gas strutt as long as you don't take the piston cylinder out, the spigot needs to be filed flat on the retaining pin and that's it, just re-assemble. Where I went wrong was, because I couldn't get the last spacer and washer out I took the cylinder out to get at them, then when I re-assembled it the indexing w ...- Read golden478's review (323 words)

I decided to fit a gas strutt, BSA Goldstar .177. This is my first air rifle, don't know much about the workings. There are 4 spacers and 4 washers to take out (Goldstar only BSA that has spacers) to fit the strutt. The last one was difficult to get at so I took the piston out, (big mistake) now the trigger and underlever overtravel which indexes the magazine has to be reset. You have to bring the compression cylinder down to make contact with the trigger sear and feed the piston in, holding the ...- Read golden478's review (281 words and 1 comment)

I bought my BSA Goldstar air rifle as a repair job, it had been used for professional pest control.
With a good strip, relube and careful screwing together it is a fully functioning tidy rifle.
Even before I polished and honed the internals it was a smooth rifle, now it's silky.
The magazine operates very well if used carefully and ensure that the locating rod is all the way home before closing the breech. It is possible to push the magazine rod too far out, I have fitted a small stop to ...- Read Lightning22's review (233 words and 1 comment)

I bought the BSA Goldstar primarily for it's repeating function- the 10-shot magazine. Now I wish I hadn't. Quite simply, the magazine is the worst-designed piece of cr*p that I have ever had the misfortune to encounter.
Everything else about the rifle is fine- it looks gorgeous, and is incredibly accurate. It's plenty powerful enough to deal death to rabbits and other assorted small vermin at up to 40 yards.
However, the magazine lets the rifle down. Basically, it's a slot-in rotary ma ...- Read Doobin's review (316 words and 8 comments)

Open sights on the BSA Goldstar air rifle are good although you really should have a telescopic to make use of this tool. It is the most powerful airgun i have had, a ruff test seems to be how far away it can put a pellet through a pellet tin lid. The scope rails are a very good attachment for scopes.
The mag is made from soft black plastic and thin aluminium. If you don't have the magazine all the way into the port and then try to move the cocking lever forward you'll find that you've put a d ...- Read Japstick's review (309 words)
