Got this machine 3 years ago and unfortunatly a part has broken and i have to get a new one, I came by this site for reviews on other indesit model with a larger kg capicity. I wanted to let you know something i read in a magazine. Fabric softner remains in all machines and this is what causes the smell, by replacing the fabric softner with vinegar and using one eight the amount of washing powder with a teaspoon of bicarb of soda it is actually better for your clothes, and if you use the bicarb and vinegar to wash the machine (60 degree wash) every fortnight it cleans the machine too. I have been doing this for about 3 months now and the difference in my clothes is amazing. (saves money on washing powder too). Also spoke to a dishwasher repair guy and he said dont use the expensive tablets, use a store brand powder with a really good rinse aid. Also re the mould on the rubber, to remove use vinegar, vinegar kills the mould, bleach will only remove the colour. Hope this is helful.

Yes the seal does go a bit mouldy but so has every other washing machine I've owned. It doesn't come off on the clothes, they come out smelling and looking clean and fresh. I use liquitabs in mine. I like the look of it, its A rating and the fact that there are only 4 wash programs. It's so simple to use.

I bought my moon over 3 years ago, it was a bargain at the time only £169, and have never had a problem with it. The rubber seal can get a bit dirty but once cleaned doesnt smell bad or affect my washing in anyway. Ive used lots of different washing products (usually ones on offer) and have always had lovely smelling clean clothes. I find that the different cycles are enough for my use, the 60 wash may be a tad long. The washing machine looks great and is easy to use. The main reasons I bought this product was its price, looks and A rating and I'm one happy customer!

when i purchased this machine i too had problems with machine getting stuck in cycles (mainly the 60deg)for hours and black marks apprearing on seal. when i looked into it i was told to check the height of the outlet hose. mine was too low down the pipe which causes the machine to cyphon. water is going out of the machine as soon as it is put in. this machine has an automatic rinse feature which will keep rinsing until all detergent has been removed from clothes. if the water is going straight out then the machine cannot rinse so tries to fill again (neverending cycle. also meant that i could not successfully wash on 60deg. bacteria thrives in lower tempretures hence the black mould on seal. after adjusting the outlep pipe the machine has worked like a dream. i also do a service wash once a month. run machine on hottest wash with no clothes in using bio powder. this cleans out the machine and kills any lingering bacteria. it has to be done with powder though because it contains bleaching agents. no smells now. hope this helps all those having problems. my ratings are based on useage after doing the above

Have had the Indesit Moon for over two years now and have been quite happy with it. No major problems so far. The short wash which lasts 30 minutes but actually washes for about five, is great for LIGHTLY soiled items. You need to use a liquid soap because that isn't enough time for powder to dissolve and be distributed evenly. You will get splodges on your clothes otherwise. The 40 degree cycle is about an hour and the one I use most. This will take powder no problem. The idea of the dispenser being in the door I think is much better than the old drawer type. However the design could still be improved making it easier for removal and cleaning. Anything which is damp, dark and moist will start to grow mould. It is the nature of the beast to enjoy such environments so keep the door open a bit between uses to let the fresh air in. I have had no problem with smells at all. I will say that I have had problems with the door seal developing oily stuff which is rather odd. Looking into that one. Only TINY bits at VERY OCCASIONAL times found their way onto the clothes but rarely contacts the wash because the door prevents it. No problem removing them tho. Can't comment on service and support as haven't needed them yet. My personal experience has been very good. Mine is still going well and I am very happy with it.

It's a shame to read all the negative reviews. We've had this for over six months now and have been extremely impressed with the machine. I do take the point about high spin speed only being available on hotter washes, but this has never caused us a problem and, properly loaded, we've not really noticed any extra tumble dryer action. The machine looks really good and is just so simple to use, it's a joy after the previous programmable one that I had to read instructions for! Washing comes out clean, even on cooler settings and appears no worse than other machines we have - despite having a five year old girl, twelve year old boy and a myself, who always seems to be either muddy or in the sea.
One feature that really sets this apart is the in-door soap dispenser. A lot of my walking/mountaineering kit needs special wash cycles and reproofing. The old machine meant removing the (usually skanky) drawer and giving it a thorough clean before putting my kit in but no such problems with this unit.
If you want bells and whistles, flexibility and high-tech, look elsewhere. If you want simple and reliable, and ideal for outdoorsy people, you'd be hard pressed to do better, especially at this price!

We bought Indesit moon washing machine back in December 08 and are pleased with it. It does work well and clothes come out clean, although it performs a bit disturbing spinning cycle and sometimes vibrates more than it should (having in mind that it has to balance the load to minimise vibration), its a beautiful washing machine and I am glad we chose it.

The Indesit Moon is quiet, stylish, easy to use, cleans clothes great. Unfortunately, no separate spin cycle but overall a great machine.
