My nan gave me this washing machine after buying a new one. It has worked fine apart from quick wash doesn't wash clothes it leaves powder all over them which is terrible!! But today I've gone to wash my baby boys clothes and l nothing will happen. The wash won't come on, just the door locks!! Does anyone no or has anyone else had this happen. I'm a single mum and not got a clue about washing machines braking down lol (read more)

I have three hotpoint products, washer dryer and fridge freezer over £1100 worth, they are all rusty and they are all three yrs old, I'm disgusted at how awful these item look considering how much money was spent on them, my last washer and dryer lasted me 10yrs..I bought hotpoint thinking they would be just as good, how wrong I was, I'm now getting on to hotpoint as the rust is so bad on the door seal it was leaking this morning, and flooded my kitchen, ..I can't afford to replace an item... We bought it a couple of years ago , I've never had to clean a machine so much as this one ... the rubbers are mouldy , the inner seals get gunky , i clean the inner compartments every week ~ I use Calgon in every wash and still get dirty grey spots on all clothes and the machine stinks even though i keep the door open after every wash , very disappointed and very frustrated as I have to wash clothes twice (read more)

Have the Indesit 1400 - also have mould on clothes and in drum and drawer. I am constantly cleaning it. Thought it was just me. I have also noticed alot of our clothes are getting small holes in them - as though they are catching on something. Got this machine 3 years ago and unfortunatly a part has broken and i have to get a new one, I came by this site for reviews on other indesit model with a larger kg capicity. I wanted to let you know something i read in a magazine. Less than 2 years old Foul smelling, mouldy seals from month one, even after wiping seal dry every wash. Have replaced complete seal over 3 times in under 2 years. Its the loudest washing machine we have ever heard and vibrates itself all around the kitchen. Today the cast metal drive pulley shattered into pieces with a massive bang, spent 2 hours ringing Indesit only to get nowhere really. Yes the seal does go a bit mouldy but so has every other washing machine I've owned. It doesn't come off on the clothes, they come out smelling and looking clean and fresh. I use liquitabs in mine. I like the look of it, its A rating and the fact that there are only 4 wash programs. It's so simple to use. (read more)

This is the worst machine I have ever owned, I have had it for less than 12 months, the door is full of mould and it stinks, ive scrubbed the mould on the inside of the door but it comes back within a month, the gentle cycle and the quick cycle leave powder all over the clothes, even when I have tried using the smallest anount, I hate it and wish I had never brought it, looks nice, but is totally rubbish, my best friend copied me and brought one, and has had exactly the same problem (read more)

I've owned my Indesit Moon for 4+ years and it's fabulous so I'm the 2nd person to love my moon! I generally use the 30 degree wash as it gets everything clean (although I pre-soak really dirty whites, mud and blood), only takes about 30 minutes and is sooo quiet. The rubber door liner has gone black and mouldy but it doesn't come off on the clothes on the 30 degree wash and isn't smelly. I bought my moon over 3 years ago, it was a bargain at the time only £169, and have never had a problem with it. The rubber seal can get a bit dirty but once cleaned doesnt smell bad or affect my washing in anyway. Ive used lots of different washing products (usually ones on offer) and have always had lovely smelling clean clothes. I have emailed them, also again today, I doubt there will be much to update! Rubbish. Rip off. Dead duck. White elephant. (Mouldy rusting elephant) Doesn't wash properly. Clothes smell musty and come out covered in mould. Drawers and rubber covered in mould that will not shift. Costs a fortune in electricity as run programs twice to try and wash whites etc. Fascia and drum lip paint rusting and peeling badly. Its rubbish. yes looks good, it eats electricity as it only uses cold water inlet and then has to heat the water itself as opposed to having a hot water inlet. clothes do not feel or smell clean when they come out. mould has developed inside the machine on the rubber seal around the door. i have had the machine for a couple of yaers now and i am going to have to replace it because the clothes coming out are rancid. This is the worst washing machine I have ever owned - I hate it so much and wish I'd never bought it. The only good thing about it is that it looks nice but every other thing about it is rubbish. I am constantly taking the inside of the door apart and bleaching. The rubber seals are always covered in Black mould, despite all the bleaching and it absolutely stinks of drains! My washing has been smelling really bad for months, bleached the black mould on the door seal, took the door off and bleached everything there but still the smell was soooo bad. I am insured for my appliances with British Gas, they came and changed the door seal and gave me some OUST cleaner. The engineer suggested I use at least two cupfuls of soda crystals each month to keep the drum clean.............hey presto, no mould on clothes and they smell lovely. (read more)

Similar complaint - we thought our tenants were over-exaggerating about the mould, the smell and their clothes being "dirty" when the wash had finished so it's kind of reassuring to know that it's a fault with the machine. Also the so-called self-clean aspect is another design fault - it doesn't self clean! Such a shame as it's such an aesthetically pleasing machine. I'm just going to call Indesit now to second your complaint.

I bought this macine as thought it would be easier to clean, how wrong I was1 the clothes come out dirtier than when they went in! and the smell is terrible. There is mould growing around the door and bleach makes no difference. I have to put my whites into a duvet cover and tie up as they always come out black. I had this washing machine for 2 years now, it's the worst I ever had. There is mould building up around the drum and my washing comes out with pieces of dirt stuck to it. I spend so much time cleaning the detergent despenser, which i shouldn't really. At one point after the the horrible smell and the amount of dirt that I have on my clothes, I took the whole door apart and tried to wash it thoroughly, but it still hasn't worked. i agree with you I purchased one just coming up to two years now and it is the worst washer i have ever had. I have experience exactly the same mould on the cloth, mould sticking to my cloth, my white clothes coming out with mould, I am fed up of this as i spend most time cleaning the machine every wash to avoid this. I have now turned to hand wash most of my clothes. what a waste of purchase. I think we should all be compensated. If i had not seen watch dog I thought i was the one doing something wrong with the way I wash.

I have had my MOON WASHING MACHINE since they first came out over three years ago,
at first I was very happy then after a couple of months the mould started
to get on the rubber seal.I use bleach and can keep that clean,but also the soap door dispenser gets bunged up and I have to take it out every time I wash and clean it. I allways keep the door open and wipe down after every use,but for the last year or so the enamel under the door has gone rusty

The Indestit MOON machine is awful. Every negative thing written here is true. My machine smells terrible and the clothes come out smelly. You have to dry them outside or they 'Go off' or sour the same day.
i bought it as it stated it was a 1400 spin. When you get it home and open up the leaflet SEALED inside you discover it is only that on the 60* wash everything else is a rubbish 1000. It is supposed to have a clever water sensor which detects soap left in the garment for rinsing...lol. no...

completley dumfounded..have had no problems with the machine at all
the soap dispenser is always clean as it is fitted inside the door.so no gummed up drawers that are on other machines!
all clothes are washed perfectly everytime,and no mould on door seal.
all wachine machines have the same door seal and all just need to be wiped to keep fresh and clean.
as for the lack of control features..there are more than enough..just read the instruction...

There is black mould around the door which goes all over my clothes. It smells like rotting flesh and makes my kitchen constantly smell. Give you another year! Had the machine for 4 years and it's mouldy black and stinks. Triggers asthma in my self and my poor baby has had severe eczema since 1 week old hadn't realised it was due to my washing machine! Now have hotpoint and my house smells like it should without a rotting indesit moon in the kitchen.

Indesit moon is a health risk and I hope indesit will have the decency to refund or exchange for a machine that actually washes clothes rather than ruins them! Where to start.....Mould on all the rubber surfaces, and in the soap dispenser. It's impossible to clean, so each wash features the mould coming off the seal on to the clothes during the cycle and onto the washed clothes when they are removed from the machine.
The functions are pretty useless too, no hot wash, and the fast spin is only available on the 60 degree wash cycle. The 30 degree wash cycles are totally unfathomable to work.

I too have a indesit Moon, I can't believe how many negative feed back reports there are on here. I am having major trouble with my washing machine. its stinks, has mould on the rim. for which indesit sent me some limescale remover which has made no difference at all. like most of the other reviews, definately the worst washing machine we have ever had. didnt look into spin cycles and wash cycles enough prior to buying it, only to be very disappointed with the length of time of cycles and low spin speeds. then the mould started! we regularly use a very strong cleaner to clean tne rubber or our clothes get the mould on them, but this doesnt get rid of the smell. will not buy another indeset whaever the recommendations. BUT Very quickly noticed black mould all over the rubber sill that wont come off but didn't seem to affect the clothes until now. Moved into a house with a newly fitted kitchen (1 year old) all the appliances were Indesit. Within 6 months the washing machine broke and had to be thrown away, the dish washer broke down and has never been fixed, and the cooker has had to have a new element twice. I contacted Indesit and was fobbed off, the guy that repaired our cooker the second time said that Indesit appliances are designed just to last beyond the warranty period. I bought the moon because it looked stylish and would match my kitchen,also
it looks easy to work.
I have had it from when they first appeared in the shops.
It has had to be reset twice as it wouldnt empty by an engineer.
It leakes water when you have the door open for cleaning,the rubber
went black within two weeks of use. I have had to rub down the
white under the door and paint with white enamel twice as
it keeps going rusty although I always dry it and leave the door open

Totally agree with above statement .... I clean everything regularly , use Calgon , wash smaller loads with no avail !! All the washing comes out with dirty little scum marks and getting very fed up !! Also even though I leave the door open to avoid smells it still smells like an indian takeaway ... not happy at all
