I took over as 4-H Shooting Sports Rifle Instructor. We had received (2)Beeman 500 Series .177 cal pellet air rifles. I tried to use them the other day and found one to shoot 6 inches high with installed aperture sights ( no way to adjust lower) # 2 shoot on target but bore is undersize and some pellets won't make it to target. If I was Beeman, I would be ashamed to put my name on them. The triggers are bad also. They look good is the only plus I can give. The accuracy is great, if I could... (read more)

I have found that this rifle is worthless if you're trying to kill squirrels, at 20 feet the pellet won't penetrate their hide. The scope is poor and even when dialing it in using a bench I find it's accuracy limited. I also have a Crossman Air Rifle, pump style and with only 8 pumps it will kill a squirrel at 40 feet. Don't bother to purchase this rifle for anything but target practice which is all it seems fit for.

Beeman Air Rifle 500 Series - Brilliant first gun. fun to shoot. fires .177 cal pellets.
the scope it comes with isnt brilliant so i recommend buying a better one me personally bought an SMK 3-7 x 20 zoom. that and getting some better pellets that what it comes with. precision on the gun is good with the scope. i have kills birds with standard flat head pellets at approx. 40 feet. i havnt tried rapture pellets yet.
the safety gets annoying after a while when you aim to fire and it doesnt...

Ive had a Beeman 500 Series for over a year, and i changed to a different scope. The first problems i noticed were a jerky trigger and constant inaccuracy. Its also a very low powered air rifle. I paid 60 dollars for it,and in my opinion,I was ripped off. after 1 month of shooting and cleaning, and taking vare of it as regular as i do my rifle and shotgun,it started to fall apart. and now my barrel is trying to come loose, and i cant find a way to tighten it. Honestly, I dont like it,but its... (read more)

Will kill small birds, not so much varmints it will daze them but not strong enough for a kill. Would recommend changing scope. Really light, hard to hold steady. Scope isn't accurate and in cheap (read more)

This rifle is a blast to shoot. It is a little slow at only 450 - 500 fps but shoots many different pellets to same point of aim with very good accuracy. Not well suited for any kind of hunting except perhaps for rats and chipmunks, even so must get very close and use PBA raptors to be humane. Better suited for an afternoon of fun shooting paper where it's accuracy will raise your eyebrow considering the price of this little guy. (read more)
