    Good Points: Picture quality, price

    Bad Points: Display, sound levels

General comments: I bought this 2 years ago for less that £100 from Richer Sounds (when DVD's usually cost double that) and expected it to have dodgy picture quality and only last 1 day longer than its guarantee. The picture on my 28" w/s tv is excellent with no 'blocking'. It has never failed (even though I dropped it!!). The sound outputs to my 5.1 amp easily but the the sound levels are low. The display is limited to the chapter number only which is basically useless. Very good value from a firm I have never heard of but now proper makes are selling for less than £100 anyway.

I got this Limit 8080a DVD player as part of a package with subwoofer and speakers.

Player and amplifier-subwoofer are separate, meaning two remotes. That means that it is not quite as easy to use as integrated player-amplifiers.
I have tried it for a month, no problems so far.
Picture and sound OK, although I have only tried the composite video.

    Great improvement on b ...

WOW! What a buy. I bought my Limit 8080a DVD player in November 01 from richer sounds for £89.00 delivered. For that money I though how bad can it be. It has been excellent. The only down side is that it doesn't play SVCD's and the display is a little poor.

The Limit 8080a DVD player is a DVD/VCD/MP3 player with Dolby Digital 5.1 amplifier, subwoofer and 4 speakers, all for a current bargain price under £150 from Richer Sounds. For this price you would expect build quality and performance to be compromised, but this system compares favourably with more expensive low-end systems costing at least £100 more. I find the performance from the DVD player to be excellent considering that it is a budget player - although the feel of the player a ...

I bought this Limit 8080a DVD player at Christmas 2001 in a package with the Limit JSP200 5.1 Home Theater System from the Richer Sounds website (http://www.richersounds.co.uk). Cost then was £200 and in January this combination was selling for £150 (drat - I should have waited!) so it's cheap. But is it any good? Well, as a newcomer to DVD, I have been very happy with it. The picture is clear, steady and not at all jerky during playback and the sound quality through the JSP200 seems ...
