Good Points: excellent build quality absolutely pin sharp optics excellent macro performance wide aperture so very bright viewfinder image
Bad Points: autofocus motor is slow and noisy but to be expected from a macro lens not suitable for action photography
General comments: The Sigma 105mm macro EX is an excellent 35mm SLR lens. The optics are first class, in fact, they are so good I often use it as a general purpose lens as well as for macro. I find it better to manually focus with this lens as the motor is a little slow and noisy but manual focusing isn't a problem as there is a very generous 50mm ish wide rubberised focusing ring on the lens and the focusing operation is very smooth. It pays to bear in mind this is a macro lens so the focusing range is very large. This means it can take a while to get from one end of the focusing range to the other so it's not really suitable for action photography but first class performance for macro and also portrait and general purpose shooting. Excellent optical quality and very high build quality,
