I signed up to call Vietnam at 3.5cents/min. A great deal right? I thought so at the time. The call quality is very good but that is where the lustre quickly fades. Not too long after I signed up, I receive a letter advising me that my rates would go up to 6.9cents/min and there is nothing that could be done to avoid it. Almost double!! This is the worst rip-off ever. Minimum calling credits is £7 and no less. Drop out rate on calls to Singapore is very high. Can't even get through most of the time ("I'm sorry but we are unable to connect your call" is the usual response). 90% of the time I had to try more than 30 mins continuously back to back dialing before getting through and even so sometimes I am still unable to connect! I've tried using Rebtel for some time to reach my friend from Jamaica from France. 1. I got no free call that worked. 2. After a few months when attempting to add funds I could not login for 2 weeks. 3. The service center sent me 3 different login numbers, none of which worked. 4. I can't recommend them to anyone. Rebtel is a scam I have been trying to call South America with 2 different phones (my phones with 2 different USA carriers) the numbers that Rebtel gave me do not work and this has been going on for sometime now. Rebtel says they were able to call and get through but we asked my wife's relatives, calling land line to land line, and they say the phones did not ring.
SO, REBTEL IS A SCAM save your money and aggravation.

I've used Rebtel for a long time, its never really bothered me that I have to redial pretty much everytime I call my family in Bahrain from London, its convenient and works from my mobile, however ffor the last 6 odd months the service has really deteriorated, I then noticed that they charge for every single call regardless of whether they connect or not. so each month I am charged £0.04p at least 30-50 times a month which soon adds up. I've been using Rebtel for about 2 years. They work about 50% of the time. I have other services so its no big deal. However, because I was counting on using them I added credit to my account and very soon aftwards they suspended my account. I tried to get in touch with ANYONE there and found out they only work 8 to 8 GMT during the work week, but not this week!?!? Its between 8 and 8 and there is no one there. The cost is actually competitive but the ease of use is not so great. The vatious steps to go through before placing a call almosts made me try a slightly more expensive alternative. My biggest dissatisfaction is that if not used for a while your unused credit balance will miraculously dwindle to zero. I talked to a few other friends that agree with this. This is a great service, I have been able to call my mom for free for a whole year! I use it from any of my phones (mobiles or landlines) and my mom can also call me from Mexico. I have been using Rebtel for a year now for calling to Russia and to the UK. UK landlines cost 1c/minute, so you basically never have to think about calling costs. The quality is mainly good. Russia is a different story: still cheap, but the calls drop quite often, which is quite annoying, but still better than many other services I've tried.
