Good Points: 1) An auction site which specialises in property that has come to UK Police Forces from a variety of sources (found, seized and assets). 2) Unlike ebay it uses 'anti sniping' software to extend auctions by 10 minutes at a time, thus giving everyone a fairer chance. 3) The vast majority of the income is controlled by the 'Police Property Act' and is used for crime reduction activities. 4) Some cracking bargains. Allowing mainly collection only this favours local people. 5) Syndicated content on several of the Police forces own web sites... clever. 6) Linked to a sister site aimed at returning property to the owner.
Bad Points: 1) A slow sign up process....1-4 days by which time current auction may have finished. 2) Incomplete national coverage with hot spots eg Sussex and Devon and Cornwall. 3) Single payment method, though others can be negotiated for higher value items. 4) Delivery is expensive for me. The reasons are explained...but it is expensive and slow.
General comments: An excellent system which recycles and is environmentally friendly. It opens up the vast property stores to a world audience 24/7.
Over 50,000 auctions to date. It is a bit more of an open club than an auction.
