“Do not buy a potterton promax 15/2 he plus... ”

Written on: 12/05/2013 by MrWJC

We had a Potterton Promax 15/2 HE Plus installed in 2007. It has been out of order more than it has been working. 26 visits on and we have had it with Potterton products! We are having a Worcester Bosch 18ri fitted, quite a few of my friends and family have them and haven't had any problems... by the way you get a 7 year guarantee. Shows that the company has faith in their product. Lastly I now I can't name names, but don't seal with a Gas company from Featherstone near Wolverhampton,... (read more)

“Baxi System 100 HE Plus, boiler tripping out without code”

Written on: 27/04/2013

Hi guys. I was working today on a Baxi System 100 HE Plus. Boiler fires up and working fine till reaches the set temperature, goes off, cooling off period, fires up again and burner goes off and on, off and on every 3-4 seconds without lock out or any error flashing lights. I have cleaned the ignition probes, replaced the temperature sensor, both overheat stats, checked the wires ok. At the end i have taken off the boiler outlet flue elbow and realised the inner flue seal/O-Ring had been... (read more)

“Stay well clear”

Written on: 21/04/2013 by Ongussy (2 reviews written)

Have had Baxi 133 HE plus for seven years and have lost count of times it has failed. Like other reviewers I've had the mis fire problem which was eventually traced to faulty ignition lead. Have had three new heat exchangers, new pcb, new pre heat board etc. etc. It really isn't fit for purpose and I've lost count of the time I've taken off work waiting for Heat team technicians to attend. “Baxi - Awful boilers and useless aftersales”

Written on: 16/04/2013 by gerry192 (1 review written)

We had a Baxi Duotec installed sept 2012...... by April 2013 it had broken down 3 times. This is a totally unreliable product. We were taken in by the 5 year guarantee and the promise of good aftercare, both sadly lacking. Baxi take 4 days to send out an engineer, again appalling service when you consider this leaves people with no heating or hot water There is nothing to recommend this product based on our experience. It has never worked for longer than 8 weeks without breaking down! (read more)

“BAXI 133 HE - A VERY- EXPENSIVE MISTAKE”

Written on: 14/03/2013

British Gas fitted this boiler in 2004, it started to go wrong 2005 and has been breaking down ever since. I have had over 20 call outs from the Homecare team. I wrote to Baxi but as the Homecare hadn't reported this they had no record. When I asked why this hadn't been done Homecare said they only do this if they can't fix it at all. I now find my monthly payments have gone up over the years becuase of the poor history of the boiler they fitted. Had I known this I would have complained... (read more)

“BAXI 133HE - MADE MY LIFE HELL !”

Written on: 04/03/2013 by JLongdin (1 review written)

I had a 130 originally and kicked up such a fuss to the MD of Baxi after having so many problems that he agreed to change it for a new 133HE free of charge. This was done and I can honestly say that over the last 8 years I have not had ONE full month without some type of issue with this one either. It's an absolute nightmare of a machine. I'm nearly on the payroll at British Gas Homecare they've been out so many times to it and apparently it's the boiler which costs them the most out of all... (read more)

“Baxi Potterton HE Plus 24/2”

Written on: 01/03/2013 by Mickster

Quite possibly the worst boiler you can buy. I have had this boiler for nearly 7 years and for the first couple of years the boiler was fine and obviously during the warranty period nothing went wrong then it started to have problems firing up and started making a banging noise each time it mis-fired. I have had it regularly serviced each year and yet the problems started to get worse over time. Then it started to make a very loud vibration that lasts 15-20 secs, and occurs every couple of... “Baxi Combi 133 HE Plus - absolute nightmare”

Written on: 17/01/2013

We had a Baxi Combi 133 HE Plus fitted just over 4 years ago by a Corgi Registered Plumber (ex British Gas employee). We have had nothing but trouble with it. It was 4 weeks out of Guarantee when we were getting loud banging noises when it fired up. Had to have burner replaced costing nearly £300 incl labour. Sent old burner off to Baxi but got no joy from them. After a few months the banging started again. Several visits from plumber did not fix the problem. Joined British Gas... (read more)

“Baxi 100 HE”

Written on: 12/04/2012 by Bloke_in_Norwich (1 review written)

Quite the WORST product I have EVER bought of any sort in my entire 50 years of life. Totally unreliable from the start and has been repaired 1 to 4 times a year EVERY year since we had it installed 9 years ago. I honestly believe every single component has been replaced at least once and some bits three times. I have now given up and am replacing it with the vow to NEVER BUY a BAXI POTTERTON again in my life. Really, I would NEVER recommend this product, I would recommend try ANYTHING... (read more)

“Baxi - Don't toutch them”

Written on: 06/04/2012

We have a 3 year old HE A. Its broken down to the point it trips the fuse board out plumber couldn't fix it so after parting with over £300 (for would could turn out to be a £50 fault) they turned up. To be fair they were prompt - I now think this is because nobody uses them. They wouldn't go in our loft because the ladder wasn't fixed (even though it's fully boarded). So their boilers don't work and neigher does their aftercare service. Mark, Berkshire (read more)

Written on: 25/02/2011

I bought a new flat from Bellway in January 2009. The Baxi Combi Promax boiler installed there has been nothing but trouble. It broke down in the first year due to low pressure and needed a new printed circuit board. It broke down again in December 2010 and needed a new circuit board, gas electrode and other parts. It was only 'kept going' until the end of the warranty period (January 31 2011) and still doesn't work. Bellway has refused to accept responsibilty because the warranty... (read more)

Thanks

Read the 1982 sale and supply of goods act, easy translation on line. Then join Which and get their legal advice, excellent. Check out the warranty clause in the Act and you will realise that there is a lot you can claim for esp from Bellway.

Written on: 02/01/2011 by rjaypee (1 review written)

I have had a Baxi Potterton 100/2 HE Plus for c. 3 years. This boiler worked well for 6 months, subsequently it has broken down on a regular basis - and despite replacing all the electronics has never functioned reliably for more than a few months at a time. We are going to write off the £2,000 odd we spent on this boiler and buy a reliable one from a different manufacturer. I strongly recommend NEVER buying one of these. (read more)

Written on: 05/04/2010

I would give this boiler zero stars on all counts, but had to put one star because that's a mandatory field.

It has been a complete disaster since installed, seldom a month goes by that it doesn't break down, and although it is covered by a British Gas service contract, it usually takes several visits to put right. During the coldest winter in history it totally let my 75 year-old mother down and was out of action for 6 weeks continuously. This is unacceptable.

All in all, it has been a... (read more)

We had 2 new BAXI boilers installed in our home in October 2005 - BAXI 100/2 HE and BAXI 80 HE. Both have been nothing bu trouble in the last 18 months despite regular servicing. Since September 2008 we have spent £1500 having them repaired - seals, PCBs, gas valves, electrodes, motorised valves and now the heat exchageer on the 100 HE is cracked, leaked, affected the electrics and we need a new boiler. I have a Baxi/Potterton Suprima 80HE, which as installed 2-3 years ago and it constantly needs electrical components. This winter when we had -16C temperatures the flue (through the roof) became iced up and ice dropped down the flue and broke the fan. We were then without heating for 10 days. Scottish Hydro who I have a service contract with, said that they were having difficulty obtaining a replacement fan as there usual supplier was sold out. Potterton Promax 15/2 HE Plus

My boiler (model above) is just under 13 months old and won't light. Squeaking, clicking and explosive ignition, then locks out and needs reset. Fortunately I have the additional 3 months "free" warranty that was offered if I registered.

Their info says to call my installer before contacting them, so I did. Called him on Tuesday evening and he came Wednesday evening. It is a problem with the boiler so I called Potterton on Thursday at about 08:45. Gosh what a... (read more)

Written on: 12/08/2008 by Ian Metcalfe (1 review written)

We installed it on the basis of having had four reliable Potterton boilers previously, so how can a competent company like this now turn out such trash? It failed six months after installation, then again after fifteen months, we have since spent in the order of £500 on it and it still doesn't work at all: permanent lock out. The new boiler was only £800! As for the service how can they justify £299 for a call out when it could only be a loose wire: arrogance beyond... (read more)
