Good Points: For its price, unexpectedly good intonation and a rich tone throughout its range of over three octaves. In particular, the bottom octave down to the fundamental is very solid. Excellent response. Valves nice and light under the fingers. Clearly influenced in design by top of the range brands. A better than average mouthpiece supplied with the instrument.
Excellent but rather heavy padded case.
Bad Points: Finishing not as good as a top of the range model. Minor flaws apparent in mine. Possibly factory quality control is not as rigorous as it might be.
Bell brass fairly thin, but this probably contributes positively to response in the low register.
General comments: The Stagg 77-EU-HG is a super instrument for the price, which performed extremely well in its first band practice.
