While there's not much wrong with the others, their depth is lacking in comparison (fewer hotels...) and prices have when I compared directly, usually been higher. So it seems like HotelsCombined end up showing me lower prices for equivalent hotels, and more choices for cheaper hotels as well. So what I really enjoy is that the hotel I end up staying at is found at a lower price, has plenty of reviews most times, and good amenities as well. Out of more than a dozen bookings through the site, I think I got a dud hotel once. Probably my own fault for going bargain basement at $45 per night in Florida! The review / feedback analysis and summary functionality they've created is very good for a quick overview of the hotel's benefits and drawbacks as seen by other guests. Of course, just like with TripAdvisor you'd have to take it all with a pinch of salt at times. Drawbacks?
