Good Points: Decent feel to the build quality, large but comfortable to hold. Works well on program modes which is just as well since changing the manual modes ain't nice. Excellent image quality.
Bad Points: On/off switch is very slack, VERY easy to switch on by mistake. You get to your destination and the batteries are drained. Poor battery life generally. Camera overheats easily leading to error messages on screen and a dead camera until it cools down again. No integral lens cap, which is a pain. Can't insert usb lead without opening door, which is in turn obstructed by the carry cord. Worst positioning of tripod mount I've EVER seen.
General comments: Mine is a S304. I couldn't recommend it. The picture quality is excellent but it falls down badly on usability. If you can live with it the results are worthwhile.

I've had the Minolta Dimage S404 digital camera for less than a week now, and am very pleased with it. It will be replacing my Minolta Maxxum 7000i.

After only 2 days with the Minolta Dimage s304 I have been extremely pleased with the results of this digital camera. Images are very sharp and colour rendition very accurate. My only gripes so far are the lack of a supplied case and a lens cap that is held to the camera by a thin cord that is annoying when it dangles from the camera when it is not protecting the lens.
