I purchased the bike 2 months ago it had a worn big end assy, I have repaired this rebuilt the motor & have travelled 1500klm in the past couple of weeks, the bike is great to ride, light & nimble with that OLD BIKE sound, after my first ride on it I instantly put my Ducati Pantah up for sale & it went to a new owner very quickly, I did not tell him about the TRX till after money exchanged hands otherwise he would have seen how good it was
The bike has R1 calipers Staintune exhaust & a few other ...- Read Guest's review (168 words)

Being over 50, I went looking for a bike to enjoy , was practical , reliable, easy to maintain , and had that classic look without sacrificing the advantages of modern technology.
I didn't shine to the yamaha V twin layout. The design in itself was impractical in it's layout as with the length of the motor, and spread mass, extra tooling costs, and the diffuclty of tuning, and that rear pot overheating, as opposed to the sensible twin layout. And besides, every man and his dogs got a V twin.

The Yamaha TRX850 has good looks (in my opinion). Ducati style trellis frame and grunty parallel twin engine. cheap to buy and good reliability. Don't follow the supersport crowd. Narrow, nimble and reasonably fast. Bad points are comfort and brakes only ok.- Read Guest's review (42 words)

The handling is spot on and has been said before very confidence inspiring ..... i have owned 3 Yamaha TRXs one of them has a hand made alloy frame and ohlins suspension and frankly the standard bike is more fun on the road...
you can pick up really tidy bikes for pennies but they are getting rare now. Change the front tyre to a 120/70/17 from a 120/60/17 and drop the forks 10 -20mm and change the fork oil and you have a "top 10" handling bike for thye price of an expensive set of leathers...

Everything about the Yamaha TRX850 is great! I have have gixxers, 2 blades and a VTR. Give me the TRx every single time. I own a 1998 bike which I had a dyno stage 2 tune done, a new chain and sprocket set (with one tooth less on the front) a pair of Blueflame carbon cans fitted and some Pirelli Diablo's on the wheels and ka-ching! you have one truely amazing bike. I sh*t you not, the old TRX does it all. It handles, it's comfy, it keeps up with loads of modern bikes in a straight line, it sound ...- Read leroymusic00's review (157 words)

The Yamaha TRX850s give great torque curve and handle exceptionly well cinsidering their age. They sound tough as nails especially with a nice set of pipes. They are also a verry forgiving bike to ride.
Buy one you won't regret it. You can hold full throttle out of corners and keep with bigger bikes but don't bother on straights.- Read luvtrx's review (83 words)

I am an individual, why should my bike be the same as everyone elses?
I've always been one to steer clear of mass produced bikes and have, in the past, owned a Buell M2 Cyclone and a Moto Guzzi 1100 Sport - not exactly your top sellers! The TRX was no exception, something a little different but without the reliability issues of the Buell or parts availability of the Guzzi. I've also been a long-time admirer of the TRX visually and was lucky enough to pick up a nice one for £2000. I ride y ...- Read pinball wizard's review (455 words and 1 comment)

Yamaha TRX850
It's usually Yamaha and the reason they don't sell is price. Remember the TDR250, FZR400RR and TDM850? Great bikes but too expensive. The TRX850 was launched as an alternative sports bike.
