We were really happy with house itself but felt it was a bit rushed in the end as we had a large snag list. Think attention to detail could the thing they work on. We did get out issues sorted in the end and we're happy with the final result. Just think the hassle could have been avoided. We can now enjoy our new home.

I would never buy another house from this company again, as i dont think they employ the right people to do the jobs on the houses. The amount of problems that we have encountered is ridiculous. Think again before buying a Persimmom home.it is stressful enough moving house but the constant calls afterwards to try to rectify their shoddy workmamship is truly mind blowing Housing estate silvermere park sheldon west midlands

the build seems to be greatly rushed without proper completions. the walls in the bedroom are not levelled. the garden is slanting and not aligned. they were pressurising to transfer the completion money but not completed the house. only reason i am at peace is the customer service team is really helpful and chasing the different parties to help complete the repairs.

I paid 350K recently for a show home from Persimmons - a figure that is fairly large to my way of thinking. To be fair, my wider experiences to date would not merit some of the harsher comments on this page. I think it depends on who you are dealing with on an individual basis. The site manager was was full of false hope (That's me using the polite term) but the guy above him does appear to be trying EG We have a shared garage that was the site showroom. The central dividing wall does not go all the way up to the roof as the (Double garage) showroom needed a cosmetic ceiling that looked nice. Therefore, the only security now to stop someone crawling across the roof space from next door's garage into ours - or vice versa - is a couple of ceiling plaster boards to comply with fire regs. We are currently waiting to see if that extra four feet of wall up to the roof will be built, as it has been for the estate's other double garages - those that were not the site show room. I'll keep you posted over what I see as a fairly reasonable request in view of the cost of the house. The rating I've given is obviously a provisional one, as with the friend recommendation. Greater detail and an honest assessment will follow.

The problem here is not Persimmon policy as poor companies have a problem at the top and our experience (ongoing) suggests that the CEO does care and gets things done when made aware of them. The Customer Service Manager who we've been dealing with in the Thames Valley area has also been helpful, albeit after we'd approached the CEO. Much of our snagging has been rectified really well after that initial approach. However, things have drifted again and it is on the ground when dealing with the likes of the former Site Manager (we still have to rely on him for tradesmen to undertake repairs) that the situation becomes very unreliable and the levels off waffle appear to know no bounds. A relative of his who is not up to some of the jobs "given to him" is employed and other tradesmen (Evans Brothers) would rather be rude to my wife than actually finish a job they were sent to put right in the roof. This is a quote from them as they left earlier today: "You shouldn't have bought the house. Buy the builder." I do not believe that reflects Persimmon's policy on customer care or was called for under any circumstances. I do get the impression that these staff are hoping that they'll wear householders down and avoid having to undertake remedial work that might involve any effort or cost on their part. Persimmon is a good company at heart but they are so big that the people who do care must be all over the place most days. You will save a lot of your own time if you can figure out who the obstructive staff are early on and find ways to get around them.

Have recently moved into a persimmon house in newport (won't name the site), It has been pretty plain sailing and we are happy with the property all in all, there have been a few small issues but were rectified thank you to a young man called Curt! If it weren't for this young man I would have lost my temper with the site manager on a number of occasions ! What rude, ignorant mam! It seems the youngster is running around the site doing all the work whilst this older guy is making promises he can not keep! But I would buy a persimmon house again

my wife and I purchased a 3bedroom Lauder home in persimmons Parklands development in October 2012,we have not had many major issues until now, initially only my wife and I were living in the house and only used the en suite and downstairs wc, the first floor bathroom was never used until my youngest son came back home after he lost his job, on the third occasion he used the bath the handle on the bath came off in his hand revealing part of the bath was still attached, I went to look at the damage and discovered that the area at which the bath broke was very thin, and the handle on the back of the bath was very loose, I called customer services and was told they would not repair it as the bath had been "mis used and was not covered under warranty I now will have to go down the legal route to effect a repair, worst customer service I have ever encountered

We recently reserved a property with Persimmon in Barnsley. As we were in a good buying position i.e. no chain, nothing to sell and in short term rented we were able to negotiate what I thought was a reasonable offer. The house was priced at £159999 and we put in an offer of 10K less. The sales advisor explained that they could not reduce to this as this would affect future valuations of other identical properties on the development. however we were offered 5% towards our deposit with carpets and vinyl thrown in. The property was recently valued by the surveyor and he has valued the house at £150000, some 10k less than asking price. After doing some digging, the adjacent property to our planned purchase had sold for £148,999.00 in June this year having only been valued at £150K. This is where I now question the integrity of the company. They knew at point of our reservation that the identical property next door had sold for £149k after the reduced valuation on the property. Therefore when you do the maths, i.e., keep the house at the original selling price (overpriced)but offer the buyer 8k towards deposit and hey presto developer still gets slightly more than the true value of the property but buyer buys above valuation were it not for a good survey. Thanks to the surveyor we have had to make a new offer. We offered 149K (i.e. the true value) of the property, and asked that the company kept to the original incentive offer of 5%. Not hard to guess their response really and should not have come as a surprise. No we can't accept although we can accept the offer of £149k but no contribution towards our deposit.(Whole incentive wiped out thanks to property being over priced). With their deposit and our 10% we were up for a good mortgage product. unfortunately we now have to look at a whole new product and we are approx. £80 per month worse off on the mortgage. Bizarre that the house is worth less but ultimately we pay much more?. My natural instinct is to run to the hills and those running shoes are very close to my feet. I have a couple of days to consider our options and will be looking at some other developers who are offering some really good incentives to secure a sale. Overall this is disappointing as up to this point I would say that the service and response from the company has been very good. Likewise the sales advisor has been excellent and I can't point any criticism towards her.

couldn't agree more! sub contractors who don't careless on quality. I have lots off pictures of basic errors alot off stuff you learn at college when doing your trade. lazy tradesman cutting corners to get home early etc.
office staff who don't have a clue . missed appointments when you've been in all day waiting. estimating 2 days for jobs when it's a 5 day process. 2 front doors, bowing back porch roof, aims taping cracking or falling off, silicon used when should be mastic, ceiling patching pieces when it's 5ft square. skirting gaps my list goes on and on.
further away from Dumfries you go the worst they are.....
