“No soakaway ”

So yet again we have come across a major problem with our property, again something hasn't been built right and Barratt Homes as per normal are not interested. The problem is a retaining wall between ours & our neighbours properties, this wall holds up my drive, so alot of weight is behind it. “Poor after sales service - disappointing ”

They don't answer your emails or calls when you complain and request a fix. They clean common areas maximum once a month while they said they would clean every week. They install faulty items and never come back to fix even if you complain a hundred times. Your gas meters are in an inaccessible place and they ignore your requests. Bought a brand new house from them in Croxley Green (Merchant Taylors Place) in Hertfordshire. Move in and soon o had a snag list as long as my arm. 3 years on, I'm still finding stuff that is broken. Barratt Homes are very quick to get you to sign off the Acceptance paper on the promise that they will fix anything later. “Barratt's don't know how to fit the pipe properly.”

Barrett's house in Scarborough I purchased the Barratt’s house on the 7th March and on the 11th March my ground floor was flooded due to the pipe which was not fitted properly in downstairs WC unit. The water was in the house for 24 hours as house was not occupied yet. Barratt’s did say that water didn’t damage anything. “Poor Quality Build, Mislead on the quality”

We moved into a new 2 bedroom apartment in Barratt Homes Greenland Place. As soon as we took possession the standard of the build and fittings was the cheapest they could use. We were sold on the basis of a high quality development, but everything to date has been sub standard. “Hard Nosed Selling ”

Saw a lovely new Barratt Home I wanted to buy and was prepared to pay the asking price. My house was to be sold as part of a financial settlement from divorce under court order. 3 estate agents said the house should sell quickly and within weeks we had 4 viewings and 1 second viewing. Bought a house 2 years ago in the East Midlands and all was ok and went well. We havent needed their customer service until now and the way we've been treated is unacceptable. “Trades man who worked for Barratt for 20 years”

I worked here as a sub contract joiner many of the bodge jobs we were forced to do on orders of management if some of the customers were aware of some of the stunts they pulled they would be horrified we were told either do it as we say or you are sacked Very few of management have any trade experience they are usually car salesmen pub landlords and the like any self respecting tradesman would never consider being a foreman for this firm… Read Full Review

Nearly 2 years from purchasing our new home.In all we have had over 100 defects and still have defects that Barratts have not fixed below. Rainwater guttering with no fall to downpipe leading to overflowing guttering. Hi, I am in a Barratts home. Rather than replace a faulty shower tray they sanded in down and re-varnished it. (With first owners) Now it has cracked and flooded my bedroom. They denied me access to my file and denied they did the repair and claimed it must have been accidental damage so they would not cover it. Lying, bullying and very obstructive behaviour! I am happy to give more information if it prevents similar things happening to more people.

Disgusted with the gentleman at the new build in newcraighall Edinburgh. Had to introduce myself and my partner after he stood at looked at us for several seconds. His eyes then lit up after I told him what our mortgage advisor told us we can afford. Never asked us to leave details or even gave us the time of day! Myself and my partner had an appointment (1hr) at the same site, we were only in for 4 minutes!! The salesman was totally disinterested and made us feel like we weren't welcome. We ended up visiting other barratt sites (I was reluctant after this visit) as we really like the houses and it was a totally different story at the other developments very helpful staff and made sure you had all the info you needed.

“Pathetic builders and after care”

We moved in to our house in April 2015 we have had 5 leeks a really bad flood to our entire down stairs , drive way has sank, and our back garden is like a swimming pool, customer care are useless, rude, arrogant, we have had to go through NHBC to help us and a solicitor!! All this was with in the 3 months of moving in to the house! Absolutely heartbreaking! Do not buy a house from them! Take your money and that's it!!
