“Inadequate effluent pump and drainage solution ”

Since moving into the house, there has been an issue with the sewage pump and the drainage in the development. The issue was passed on to the management company that did their best to resolve...6 years later we still periodically experience foul smell that can last for weeks...The pump has to be upgraded (not designed properly the first time around?, drains surveyed (no apparent issue)...and we still suffer with substandard environment. “Rubbish! Incompetent! SLOW!”

Where do you start? Health and Safety - big issue here, as we are living in a part constructed road, at the end of it! Ourselves and two occupiers were moved into houses that were obviously hurriedly completed in order to meet the 30 June deadline. We have had no refuse collection since that date as the local council NDDC, refuse to collect it due to health and safety issues. “Disgraceful service”

Be warned when buying a barratts home. The reason they knock them up so quickly is because they're lazy and do a half assed job! I've lived in the house for 4 months and I've had to have cupboards fixed internal doors fixed both my doors adjusted and fixed. I have a bin which pulls out from the cupboard they've left me with the instructions and no special fittings for that bin to fit! We have lived in our 2 bed flat for a year , we originally loved it !! Until that is Baratts laid amtica (hard flooring) in the flat above us ... We contacted all people neccasary had a noise test which came back untitled to us and had the year before a date on it !!!! “Absolutely Terrible”

Shocking customer service, houses are built to a very very low standard. Been in for 2 years and had two windowsills literally fall out, the bath crack (with a two year old in it so not due to weight) he shower door literally fall off, Lino flooring with bubbles, kicker board that isn't attached to anything and regularly falls down. We have been in our home 2 years - a snag list upon moving in that was 4 pages of A4 paper, and since we can add to the list a flood, 4 complaints where the NHBC were involved, poor standard finish, and customer service that is pushed into second place only by Vodafone - and if you have ever had to deal with Vodafone, you realise how poor a recommendation this is. So yet again we have come across a major problem with our property, again something hasn't been built right and Barratt Homes as per normal are not interested. The problem is a retaining wall between ours & our neighbours properties, this wall holds up my drive, so alot of weight is behind it. “Poor after sales service - disappointing ”

They don't answer your emails or calls when you complain and request a fix. They clean common areas maximum once a month while they said they would clean every week. They install faulty items and never come back to fix even if you complain a hundred times. Your gas meters are in an inaccessible place and they ignore your requests. Bought a brand new house from them in Croxley Green (Merchant Taylors Place) in Hertfordshire. Move in and soon o had a snag list as long as my arm. 3 years on, I'm still finding stuff that is broken. Barratt Homes are very quick to get you to sign off the Acceptance paper on the promise that they will fix anything later. Barrett's house in Scarborough I purchased the Barratt’s house on the 7th March and on the 11th March my ground floor was flooded due to the pipe which was not fitted properly in downstairs WC unit. “Trades man who worked for Barratt for 20 years”

Hi, I am in a Barratts home. Rather than replace a faulty shower tray they sanded in down and re-varnished it. (With first owners) Now it has cracked and flooded my bedroom. They denied me access to my file and denied they did the repair and claimed it must have been accidental damage so they would not cover it. Lying, bullying and very obstructive behaviour! I am happy to give more information if it prevents similar things happening to more people.
