“2nd Barratt home”

Written on: 17/07/2015 by dawntait (1 review written)

We bought our barratt home 12 years ago and have been very pleased with it I can honestly say we have had no problems with it what so ever! We had only lived in a detached house before so were a little worried about the sound proofing, it was much better than our detached house! We decided to downsize and have just bought and completed on a new home at Malbank waters Nantwich, everything from start to finish was done professionaly, nothing was too much trouble, the snagging was virtually non… Read Full Review

“Major error on their behalf.”

Written on: 13/07/2015 by AdrianaKoenig (1 review written)

My parents decided to put an offer down on a house, the home owner accepted the offer and then the estate agency forwarded the accepted offer over to Barratt homes. As far as my parents were aware and the estate agency, the house was theirs. Later, my mother phoned regarding information on a wash machine only to discover Barratt homes didn't bother to process their accepted offer and now my parents have lost their dream home to another bidder and through Barratt homes incompetence. Now they… Read Full Review

“Broken promises..., that'll be barrat homes”

Written on: 29/06/2015 by Miraclec1989 (1 review written)

The site we live on has different squads of builders day to day so no one knows what they are doing or what the previous squad had done. The 2 homes across from me have been getting built for over a year now, that's right.. Over a year, they have had roughly 10 different squads building and then pulling it back down. They haven't got a clue, it is laughable watching them. They are all little kids straight out of college with no experience. We have had the pavements ripped up outside our home… Read Full Review

“AVOID AVOID AVOID”

Written on: 24/06/2015 by Meyer235 (1 review written)

Buying a Barratts home is the single biggest mistake I have made in my life. Here are just a few issues we have had. Not honouring promises made in the contract and misleading sales. Exposed wires around the plug sockets. Non-waterproof grout used in shower and bathrooms with obvious consequences. Incorrectly plumbed in Boiler, took 4 years for them to accept it was wrong and resolve. Poorly fitted patio doors with finger sized gaps. Refusing to replace, clearly the wrong size. Floorboards not… Read Full Review

“Dont be put off by negative reviews ”

Written on: 19/06/2015 by Raelynn309 (1 review written)

After buying the house we looked at reviews we were worried thay we made a terrible mistake! Having now moved in for over 6 months i can honestly say that we had no reason to worry!! The site manager and the sales lady were extremely helpful before during and after we moved in! First of all we asked for skirting boards and plinths not to be fitted as we were putting our own flooring. The site manager didn't have an issue and even came back to fit and paint them free of charge when the… Read Full Review

“A very poor experience buying and living in a Barratt...”

Written on: 08/06/2015 by Johngos (1 review written)

We purchased a Barratt built home 5 years ago. It's taken us that long to get to the end (we hope) of the problems that came with it. We've had leaks, intolerably creaking floors, poorly fitted tiles, bodged fixes and a host of other problems. One of the worst experiences was discovering that the contractors hired by Barratt to paint the interior of the house were not good. Barratt told us (as if this somehow made things better) that they had fired them, but for us it meant a 10 day nightmare… Read Full Review

“Misselling and mid-advertised”

Written on: 03/06/2015 by davies37 (1 review written)

I have tried to buy a home with Barratt, we made an offer with a part exchange on our own property and after 3 days Barratt came back and agreed prices with us. We went to the Elworth Park development in Sandbach and signed all the papers they asked us to sign agreeing to ALL prices and confirming we would complete before the end of June this year and being told "Congratulations you've just bought your new home"! We received an email the following day from the Elworth Park Development… Read Full Review

“In September 2010 I bought a new build, "luxury"...”

Written on: 28/05/2015 by VanessaIves (1 review written)

In September 2010 I bought a new build, "luxury" ground floor apartment from Barratt Homes, located within the Merryfields Development, in Brierley Hill, West Midlands. As soon as November 2010, I noticed an abnormal amount of condensation and damp inside, which was causing mould. I reported the issue to Barratt immediately, and they sent a contractor to have a look. I wax advised that there are no issues with the flat which were down the construction, etc. and that all the problems were down… Read Full Review

Purchased our house last September two hundred and sixty thousand pound Dearest one they build here still waiting for the Builder to 'REPAIR' our problems- all doors and frames crooked, garage floor cracking, pod in dining room ceiling waiting to be painted, all external doors and garage doors require painting. back door not fitting to frame, ceiling spotlights had to be made straight still waiting for ceiling to be painted. They did fix the window sill in the study but put foam in the… Read Full Review

“Awful customer support Barratt Homes”

Written on: 22/05/2015 by CharlieJimenez79 (1 review written)

Wouldn’t buy anything from them anymore. The customer service basically does not exist, they do response to emails but nothing is theirs fault and there is no any practical advice either. Whilst buying the flat from them I was told that the financial advisor they recommend is free, but as it turned up they charged me £200 later on. Of course I complained and was told that I do not have to stick to them, but if I do not fit in in the timescale with obtaining my mortgage I can lose my deposit… Read Full Review

“Very poor ethics, terrible product, awful customer...”

Written on: 22/04/2015 by MattJakvar (1 review written)

My wife and I bought our first home with Barratts and at first every thing seemed to be ok. 16 months down the line however things look very different. After the road outside flooded and the backed up sewage and overflow came into our house 8 times we investigated and found that this was well known to Barratts beforehand yet nothing was done about it and we were never told. Their excuse is that it is not a flood zone. They accept no responsibility and even though the problem has still not… Read Full Review

“beware of there sales staff”

Written on: 13/04/2015 by 18Kennedy (1 review written)

Bought a flat of them, the hendon branch in london, many things there sales staff said were not met on completion. As it was a new build that had not been built yet, I was shown a showroom. When my flat was finally built the living room was smaller than that of the showroom which they promised would be the same size. They also told me I had to use there solicitors but they ended up not being on the panel of the bank I was using so I had to change half way through. They promised an allocated… Read Full Review

The plumber came out yesterday and told me it had been sorted I've had a shower again this morning and what a surprise there is water coming through on to my ceiling! I have rang barratts up this morning and they told me it's not an emergency as its only patches. “Don't be pushed around by the sales team! ”

Written on: 06/04/2015 by hzLarsen24 (1 review written)

I used their movemaker scheme to sell my apartment in order to purchase my new home. They basically forced me to sell it for a lower value in order to speed up the sale so I could purchase and move into my Barratt home quickly. They made threats that they would pull out if the sale didn't go through and it was a stressful time throughout. Looking back, I shouldn't have allowed them to do this. They are bullies. I would encourage you to be strong against them. Very pushy! Quality of finishing… Read Full Review

“Garages too small for cars!!!!!”

Written on: 28/03/2015 by Porterfield281 (1 review written)

Myself and my family spent £279,000 on a property built by barrett on the Houndwood development in street, somerset. The property boasts a lovely integral garage. Whoever designed these garages must have been drunk at the time when calculating the width of these garages!!!!! Unless you own a smart car or Nissan micra, you have no chance of getting a car into the garage!! My brother owns a ford fiesta. He only just managed to reverse the car into the garage.... Great he thought!!! Well his… Read Full Review

“Flood risk area - Tarleton Plox Brow development!!!!”

Written on: 25/03/2015 by Sheag207 (1 review written)

A number of elevated houses border the Tarleton Plox Brow development. At the bottom of their gardens is an established and very deep reed bed which has created a large pool of standing water. Barratt were aware of this when they bought the land. Due to the flood risk area and the location of the canal, the site needed to be elevated by approximately two + metres. However, the elevation of the land has not extended to the edge of the land which borders on existing houses. What you have now is… Read Full Review

“Will find a way to wheedle out of anything in 5yr Warranty”

Written on: 20/03/2015 by Doughbun (1 review written)

Anything even obscure things have to be serviced every year or warranty is no existent. Having all the gas appliances & heating serviced annulling is not enough..every appliance has be serviced annually ! The hot tank has a faulty valve...which is a fault...the acustoer service team agreed it was a fault with the actual valve, experienced by a whole lot of other buyers... But if you can produce an annual service certificate for that particular appliance ....nothing!… Read Full Review

“Barratt Burton Woods Disappointment”

Written on: 11/03/2015 by MicahLamont (1 review written)

Looking for our first home together after getting married in April we reserved a plot off plan on Burton Woods last year in the phase 2 development. It wasn't until we viewed the actual site that we noticed a full sized man hole bang in the middle of what would be the front lawn that we decided to move plots and house type. This was stressful in itself as we preferred the first house but couldn't live with the man hole. After moving plots we went to see how it was coming along a few weeks… Read Full Review

Hello, we live on this development on the dwh side.
We have a compound (or tip ) would be more appropriate opposite us and care currently in dispute over the plans for this land which apparently they don't yet own either! I just wondered If your issues were resolved on the end?

Hi, sadly we pulled out of the purchase as planning permission was never granted and according to the Durham County Council website it still hasn't been granted which is very strange as it's now over 1 year since it was applied for.
We're now in the process of buying a new build in Bishop Auckland and are hoping to complete on the 26th June.
Very strange situation with the land at Burton Woods, I hope for everyone's sake the planning permission and purchase of land gets resolved sometime soon.
