It lists 10 providers when I looked, so it is by no means comprehensive. Therefore it probably wouldn't be the first site I would recommend in this sector.

Customer ratings on the site would be useful, as would more details about each offer. Not too much detail, just a bit more to give customers a way to differentiate between them.

Its best feature is the listing of MAC compatible broadband providers.

“TheRateTart.com is a comparison site offering...”

★★★★☆

written by chrisneiger on 03/07/2007

TheRateTart.com is a comparison site offering information on broadband and a range of finance products, including credit cards, loans and insurance. This review focuses on the broadband section.

Where this site differs from other similar sites is it's somewhat irreverent attitude to big companies. The logo is a picture of a Dick Dastardly type businessman having the floor cut out from under him, and the product guides and news articles also delight in gently mocking companies and their practices. More importantly for the customer, information is given on many of the sneaky tricks used to turn an apparently good deal into a very bad one.

The broadband comparison tables contain a good amount of information on each product. You can compare by download speed, price, download limit and several other categories. Alternatively you can see the different offers from a specific company or you can access tables according to a set criteria (e.g. if you want unlimited broadband or are an apple mac user).

One improvement would be for the tables themselves to be ordered by a column chosen by the user.

If you cannot find what you are after on the site, then there is also a Yahoo search bar integrated into the left hand navigation making it easy to search the web for other offers.

All in all a good, well designed fun site. Room for some improvements (see bad points) but not a bad place to search. They've got a 4 star review from Web User magazine, so they must be doing something right?
