    Good Points: fuel economy, reliable ,comfortable


    Bad Points: sluggish on hills thats it


    General comments: Im on my 4th escort van.They are a good work horse and just keep going Maintenance is cheap and esay.I look after this Ford Escort Van 1.8D far more than the others as they stopped making them in 2002.

    Ford Escort best small mobile service van ever made mk 5.6 if maintained 100 percent reliable just a shame ford forgot to proper wax protect the sills and the floors. Td model brilliant.

    MOTs are a nightmare. My Ford Escort van 1999 less than 60000 on clock ex-Royal Mail. Last 3 MOTs have cost me over £1500. Heater packed up long ago. New clutch needed at 55000? Stearing problems alone £500. Rust is becoming a concern as is an oil leak as is loss of power stearing fluid!
    Dont bother buy a vw caddy instead.

    Easy to fuel, and are real workhorses and go on forever. A large carrying area an can carry thing such as ladder with no problem.
    All in all a fab van as I now own 3... I would highly recomend.

    I am now on my 4th Ford Escort van. My 1st was a mk 3 with an 1117cc petrol engine. I basically drove it into the ground, but whilst doing that I learnt to really enjoy it. The 1st thing that is needed on any escort van is a set of 14" rims, either steel or alloy, this is because the standard 13" rims have a 155/ 90 profile tyre on them, and the ride in corners, even with a light load feels decidedly 'washy.' my first set were the XR3 egg poachers, with 185/60's on them, and the overall ride and ...

    I have had a 1.8 diesel Escort van for about 6 months now and I have found it very reliable, it has never let me down and starts 1st time whatever the weather. I would most definitely recommend it to anybody who needs a cheap run around.
