    Carrera Banshee X

Some of you people cant be looking after you Banshee properly! I'v had my banshee X for 1year now and not had one problem with it. to be fair once i got it from halfords i stripped it and re set everything my self, and locktight on every bolt. i have used it a min of 1ride to 4rides a week at Glentress red/black routes and have not had one problem with any of the mecanicals on the bike.

stuff to do that i found worked:
    1. set of pedals (i went for DMR V12's) lets face it the welligo's are bad pedals on a bike that price!
    2. Set of grips (DMR lock ons)
    3. Chain slap protector
    4. Higher compound pads
    5. replace the 3rd front chain ring with a bash plate

And you have a great alround bike for throwing downhill

Just hope you don't need any spares for it! Halfords can only get 'complete frames' all i need is a few suspension bushes and screws... Complete waste of time! Basically, either buy a new frame or buy a new Carrera Banshee X bike, don't bother, i'll stick with me cannondale...

Have had my Carrera Banshee X for just over a week and all in all a really good bit of kit. Takes Light free ride well and absorbs 3 -6 ft drops ok I have recemtly taken it for a 22 mile ride and with some extra pressure in the shocks it road well. The only thing to beware of is the rear shock as i have already broken the lock out !!!

I rode my mates and its the best bike ever, either a heavy downhill bike, or a nibble hardtail. Carrera Banshee X awesome bike, never seen a better piece of kit. A bargain.

the carrera banshee x is a brillant bike it can take hucks 5 to 6 feet high no problem and soak up all the down hill tracks and drop offs and more my mate has a santa cruz Vp Free and i ride the same stuff as he does. the banshee can hold its own with the best its not the bike its the rider a bad workman alwalys blames his tools. for the money you can not buy a better bike.

If you are in to mountain biking seriously but dont want to pay a heafty price the Carrera Banshee could be a good choice, however I would recommend that you put locktite on the crank bolts as they can somethimes come undone easily If you are into mountain biking and are looking for something that you can throw down a hill at speed and not have to worry about it, may I suggest looking at something a little more expensive.

I took it up Snowdon and down the rangers path which gives you both extremes of MTBing. It handled the conditions better than the xc bikes that came with me. Use your gears on those climbs and relax into it on the down hills. Bikes a lot of fun until you can afford to spend £1500 on your next one.

A lot of money spent, worth every last penny though, Halfords should have made a XXX that year, that frame deserved better parts than it got. The bikes weight means it isn't much good for climbing anyway, but point this thing downhill and feel its potential.

No communication from Halfords ( they'd lost my contact details apparently )...Ventured into the store to be told my bike was unrepairable and they'd built me up a new bike...

The new bike had a lot more scratches, and scuffs than my 'old' one. And also the main sprocket was very loose..

Its now developed an itermittant random TICK TICK noise which is very annoying..

Disappointed is the word I'd use at this moment in time to describe my experience with the Carrera Banshee X

Ecessive play in the Headset, which after a bit of messing about with managed to correct. Warped front disc. Noisey Crankset.

Returned it to Halfords for repair, recieved a phonecall to say it would now need a new Crank Spocket because they'd knackered the head of the bolt when stripping the Cankset down and would take a few more days longer to rectify.

I'm awaiting with baited breathe ...

Paint job, my girlfriend has rode hers 6 times and the laquer has been rubbed away from the cross bar, its back at halfords now who are replacing.
Well done halfords for admitting to floors. It was a no quibble swap for new frame.

Halfords first service is a waste of time; my BB had worked its way loose due to over-spray of paint in the threads and I asked them to tighten it up, then apply threadlock - which they say they would do, but when it came loose again a month later I decided to buy the tools to dismantle it myself and, lo and behold, no threadlock applied. BB is fine now that I have done it properly. 2007 model.
