Good Points: A lovely zoo, where we felt that the staff really cared about their animals. We learned so much more than previous visits to much larger zoos where talks were very scripted and, in some cases, boring. The handling sessions were great, where one can overcome irrational fears of snakes & spiders, and have close-up encounters with wallabies, alpacas, rabbits etc. The cafe' offers good value food and the adjoining gift shop a large selection of affordable keepsakes. The children's play-area, although not used by our family, offered a large area in which the kids in your party can let-off-steam, if they are not particularly captivated by the animals, some of which we had not seen in other zoos.
Bad Points: Very few, although we noticed that those with wheel-chairs found it hard work coming back up the gradient on which the whole zoo is located. Some areas were a bit scruffy, but it looks as though they are due for re-development.
General comments: A zoo that we can thoroughly recommend to anyone. It is very good value (£8 adults). Like many others that we met on our visit, although we have been to Devon many times, we were unaware that Exmoor had a zoo and we feel that it is a pity that there is not better advertising for this jewel in beautiful countryside. Whenever we are in Devon, from now on, we will visit to see latest developments
