Good Points: DS Havers. This character has great potential to act as a foil to the foppish Lynley. Her working class roots and down to earth attitude should provide a nice mirror to his cloistered upbringing. Unfortunately the producers have succumbed to the need to 'sex up' Havers and include long meaningful looks. Havers is doomed.

Bad Points: Lynley. This guy is just a spoilt brat with a superior attitude and few, if any redeeming features. He needs a haircut and a reality check.Helen: whining and self absorbed. She is incapable of being happy and finds fault in everything her partner does. It's all me me me, my feelings, my space. Get real.Bristol 410. Exclusive, rare, quality and bloody ugly.

General comments: The Inspector Lynley Mysteries only saving grace is that it is a British crime drama and therefore superior to all others (with possible exception of Dexter). However Lynley is a rank amateur compared to Morse or Frost or Tennison who are real characters with real flaws and emotions. Lynley is just arrogance and affectation topped off by stupid looks. Any real dramatic potential between Lynley and the working class Havers, or the problems of the work and his private life are lost in a morass of unlikeable characters, laboured simplistic plots, and incredible smugness.
