Good Points: The range of features and tools are unbeatable. Its been 9 months since our company (www.pippinmcgee.com) started to use Americommerce and we continue to learn about a new tool/feature every week. Some of the most useful features for us have been: Template Customizing: We could easily get into the theme settings and change them around... color, size just about anything. This applies to every single element on each page... from the home page down to the category pages, product pages and shopping cart and checkout pages. They have a very powerful CSS editor. Add to that some knowledge of html and javascript and you can go wherever you like with your design. We were able to redesign our product details page down to every element. I can't say enough good things about the depth to which we can customize. So much so, that for this reason, I am in the process of redesigning and moving my store, www.omvillage.com over to Americommerce. I hope to have it moved over by November 2007. I can't complain about Volusion, (my current solution provider) but having used both of them, I found Americommerce to be easier to use and far superior on many fronts. Custom development: This has to be the absolute top of the list. They have custom developed 98% of our requests - some for no charge, and others at an inexpensive price under development share or for a reasonable price when we've been in a rush. Americommerce has a development share program where if we make a request for a feature... Americommerce and other clients who might find it useful will contribute to the cost of building it out. Talk about a community and business model! Product and Category Management: We have a large number of products and category and product restructuring with bulk upload is a breeze. Great Customer Support: They have a great support ticket system in place and response time is great! Super SEO friendly: allows URL rewriting from category to product level, keywords, titles, redirects, everything we need from an SEO perspective. Reporting: Great reporting features and a new feature has been added to auto email customers who abandoned their shopping carts. I haven't used this as yet, but will definitely be setting it up soon. We have called a few customers who left their phone numbers and abandoned their carts and closed those sales almost 95% of the time. Its hard to list the benefits of all the features so I've touched on the few that we've found most useful. Bad Points: I really can't say much on this front. My experience with Americommerce has been fantastic! I can't say that everything is always perfect - after all it's a combination of software and people and there is always room for growth in both areas. But, if you ask me to pinpoint an issue of concern, I can't do that either - because it has more than met our company's needs for a customizable, easy to use and feature rich shopping cart solution.
General comments: If you are reading this review, you are possibly looking for a solution. From my comments above, its evident that I would recommend Americommerce. Every business has different needs and it would be helpful to make a list of what one needs from a shopping cart solution in the mid and long term and review solutions based on that.
I am writing this review so I can share my experience. I read a lot of reviews before selecting my solution for my store. I wish I had found a review on Americommerce when I started my store, Om Village and I wouldn't be going thru having to move it over.
I find Americommerce is more of a solution partner than just a company that hundreds of thousands of people just host their web store with. I did not find this level of service and willingness to custom develop at reasonable prices anywhere else. I can't say enough good things about them.

We have been working with the cart for four years now. We have been through several upgrades and improvements. They have designed sites for us and integrated our feature requests as well. Through it all, we have increased sales each year without fail!

We had to restructure our entire catalog and we were able to do it in 1 day. The architecture design of the cart is done very well and we were shocked at the ease of being able to move products and categories around.
The cart is packed with good features and tools for marketing. Google products uploads, affiliate campaigns, flexible discount codes, and more.
The catalog is very flexible in terms of being able to customize the way you want to build things for an advanced user like us, but ...

Buyer beware!
If you do go with Americommerce.com, go on a month to month agreement, nothing long term. Because you will want to leave. I just don't want anyone else to get burned like I did.
