We have just returned to feeding our 15 year old JR Nature Diet after he was put onto a low fat diet due to pancreatitis. We introduced it gradually and she is now very happy again eating this food. We like the fact that it has a high meat content which is best for dogs and we are having the Senior/Lite which is low fat. It produces much better stools than her old food and there is no more wind due to a lot of grains. Happy dog and happy owners. (read more)

I have read the negative reviews regarding this dog food and have only good words to say about Naturediet. I live in France and in the past was only able to obtain it via Zooplus. They seem to be in the habit of breaking up the original boxes and I had a lot of problems with blown packs. However, I am now able to order via Amazon UK and have had no problems at all as I receive them in the original boxes, firmly secured. I have a Cavalier King Charles who was very ill 2 years ago, and if... (read more)

Purchased a box of 18 trays of Naturediet. On opening found that one had burst spilling the foul smelling contents over the other trays. Around half of the trays were puffed up, suggesting some sort of contamination. Opened two of the Ok looking trays but the contents were rancid and foul smelling with a black liquid oozing out. Difficult to get the smell out of the kitchen. Disposed of the whole batch of 18 trays. No response to my email from Naturediet. (read more)

My Labrador has had NatureDiet since a puppy. Only recently has she had symptoms of vomiting and diarrhoea. I knew it was the NatureDiet as when we changed her onto Royal Canin sensitivity control, she improved straight away. After 10 - 12 days, we re-introduced NatureDiet and she was ill again. I don't think I will feed her it again. I will ask my vet for an alternative. (read more)

If you would like to know why, read on …. When we adopted our dog, we purchased several boxes of Naturediet and started to feed our pet. She seemed hesitant to eat the food but, as this was the only food available to her, she ate it, reluctantly. We found various cartons ‘blown’ and the food rotten. We wrote to Nature Diet advising them of the incidence of blown packs. the following standard PR response was their answer to this problem. ‘With no preservatives in our... (read more)

In October 2010 my female SBT became seriously ill after eating the Prawn/Salmon variety. She suffered such severe stomach pains she had convulsions & shook with agony. The vomiting and projectile diarrhea were severe. My vet was shocked at how quickly she had deteriorate since he saw her two days before for a routine check up. I contacted Naturediet who confessed they have a problem with the seals on their packaging. They assured me they had now changed their production and that the... (read more)

My dogs love this food, we also have a new puppy and this is the only food she will be eager to eat. We buy the food from wholesale (we have a trade account) and have never had a bad/blown packet. The difference in our dog since going onto Nature Diet has been outstanding - results not seen with any other dog food which we have tried. It was recommended to us by a behaviourist and we have not looked back since! Our dog's poos now have no smell, are completely dry and are much smaller than they once were.
We have had a few packets which have smelt a little "unusual" but certainly not rancid like some of the reviews have said. We've noticed it more with the lamb than with the other...

Read the reviews, many have had food poisoning and my puppy was sick for24 hours but luckily only fed a little to her. Be careful the packaging does not seal properly and air gets in! Being veggie wasn't sure how food should smell, don't expect puppy food to be off!, won't buy ever again, too much risk.

I too have had many blown packages of nature diet which have smelt bad when opened. I wish they would sort this out. When in perfect condition the food is excellent, but it is becoming too costly with the amount of dodgy smelling cartons I am getting in each box.

I have recently transitioned my Northern Inuit puppy (11 weeks) from Wainwright moist puppy trays to Naturediet Puppy in the moist tray and I have to say so far it has been fantastic (fingers crossed).
I had been feeding Wainwrights since 8 weeks old, based on some research I had done online, I have found nothing but trouble with it. Puppy was constantly having loose stools and going to the toilet up to 6 times a day. The poo was pudding soft, with mucus and slime init. I can only assume it...

My dog was thriving on this food after several attempts to find something his delicate tummy could tolerate and I was delighted.
However along with other reviewers I have found blown packs in bulk orders. I could live with that as it is obvious the pack isn't sealed and you can usually get your money back.
What I have been less impressed with is apparently intact packs that when opened leave you reeling with the stink. While I dont expect my dog's food to smell great I also dont expect to...

I found this review very helpful because...we have had the same problems with naturediet recentley, so much so we have thrown away a number of unused packets because of the pungent smell. We used the naturediet ones that had no smell on them and presumed they were okay. This week i had to take my eleven month old puppy to the vets as she was not at all well, she was vomiting and then she stopped eating all together. The vet diognosed she had a gastric problem and gave her two injections and two sets of tablets which cost me £48.00. We spoke to our local petshop owner on Saturday he told us he had had complaints of the same nature so he decided to open some of his packets to which he found the same problem bad smells. He returned them to you and your explanation was the machinery that seals the product was faulty. Today Sunday we went to the petshop were we bought the naturediet from to explain our situation, the owner listened to us and although she said they had not had any complaints she has in the past had people bring them back because they had been punctured. She refunded our money and said she would get in touch with you. As a good will gesture would you consider reembursing me the veternary fee if i send you my receipt. I will follow this email up with a phone call to you tomorrow. Mrs Oldfield.

mixed experiences with the manufacturers, sometimes charming other times the "customer services" could not care less.

Positively dangerous. I am no longer prepared to risk my pet's safety by feeding petfood which has the potential to make her seriously ill. I used to be a massive Naturediet fan. We have a 2 year old German Shepherd who didn't enjoy his (dried) food. We looked around for a natural wet food and tried him on Nature Diet, all flavours, which he loved. My border collie LOVED this product (for 2 and a half years), until we started having problems with both the dog and the food. I found this review very helpful because...my dogs have been having the same problem.
We have been feeding this also for about 5 years now and they both love it,but in the last 4 or so months my older dog has started chewing his paws, has discharge from his eyes and very smelly ears,he has also developed a bald patch on his ear, a sure sign of an allergy to something.
My youngest dog has always got mucous in her stools too.
We have changed nothing in their diet.
I have noticed lately that some of the food sometimes seems a bit iffy and have questioned if it is alright too.I have also had the same problem of blown trays and even sometimes the food has definately been off even though the packaging seems Ok,it seems the lids have let air in somewhere.
Gone off sensitive naturediet is unbelievably bad smelling!!
This is quite annoying as I buy it in bulk so hard to take it back to the shop a few weeks later!
I'm wondering whether they have changed the recipes. When they used to do the tripe varieties as well the food was really great but it does seem different now.
I'm going to try Orijen food out as I have heard good things,to see if things improve. It is a dry food though unfortunately.
