Dougal Haston, In High Places is not the best written book by a mountaineer but who cares? Dougal's style - spare, laconic, resigned even- perfectly reflects the man himself. A goal setter, the book reads as if written by a man who knew he only had a short time with us. But he packed a lot in. Worth reading just to find out that even Don Whillans doesn't always have a head for heights.
