bought pajero 4 months ago its limited edition 1996 and only 51000 miles on clock interior is like new body work brill a few ver minor scatches on plastic door panels, have used it off road and its performed great, only thing i can say against it is mpg the 2.8 would pull a house down gears arte smooth, you the auto has overdrive so you can motor along on motorways but you have to drive it carefully to keep fuel consumption down,i look at is you cant have everything the vehicle is 16 years old, would highly recommend one.

“Best I owned”

★★★★☆

written by on 29/03/2012

Owned a 95 2.8td swb, over 8 years it never let me down, lots on sand work, river crossings and towing loads of fire wood. Upgraded to a 96 Toyota surf and have been sorely dissapointed ever since, as well as been hit in the pocket! Best value for money 4wd.

“1996 Mitsubishi Pajero 2.8 intercooled td, ex-UK...”

★★★★☆

written by on 21/04/2009

1996 Mitsubishi Pajero 2.8 intercooled td, ex-UK imported to kenya 1997, 130,000 miles on the clock, original engine, service every 3200 miles. Am not the slowest driver and being sure of the suspension, i cruise. Now front disks need to be rephased. Engine abit leaky but this car has done everything i wanted it to do and is still intact. Economy ~9.5 -11 Km whether in Maasai mara or Tsavo or Shimba Hills. I've done it all and i will never complain. Give me another pajero (newer) and i will not complain. Spare parts are pricey and the car smoked alot. EGR blocked and nossles cleaned. Okay now. Will all my family (3kids) and the extended family, this car will take off anytime, anywhere. I have Monroe kit for rear suspension, Monroe shocks front and 31.10x15 tires.

“Mitsubishi Pajero is the best off-roader I've ever...”

★★★★★

written by on 21/06/2008

Mitsubishi Pajero is the best off-roader I've ever driven, it is so good that my "weak" 2.8D has beaten up my friends' Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.2 and Suzuki Vitara (on the rough terrain). I've also beaten Land Rover Defender and Lada Niva.
NOT TO MENTION THE STRONGEST ENGINE 3.5 V6 24V.
It's very reliable, and even the fuel consumption isn't bad at all
(7.5l, open road). The most important of all, this car definitely serves its purpose.

Mine is actually 17years old, so is the 2.5. i bought it from a dealer, and haggled him down from 1400 TO 1000. not bad, rock solid,no rust, no smoke, always reliable, even got aircon and cd the heater warms up in 2 minutes. Great off road, best to get an auto. I've owned a rangerover, and a discovery, everything went wrong, autoboxs failed, overated status symbol. h reg 90 would of cost over 3k,and is out of the ark,and as strong as a cardboard box. so I rate my pajero highly, I also have a patrol, which is excellent.

“If you want a vehicle to out-gun all the similar Army...”

★★★★★

written by dmills133 on 09/06/2007

If you want a vehicle to out-gun all the similar Army off road vehicles then buck for buck the 2.8 T/D Mitsubishi Pajero is it. Cheap to buy - £3000 will get you a reliable, comfortable, vehicle with air condition for both front and rear passengers. The torque converter on the box is a drivers dream. It will pull up a damp muddy slope at 40 degrees at 3mph without wheel spin, go though deep muddy sediment where similar army vehicles will just cut though to ground level and bottom out whereas with the wide tyres set at 15psi this vehicle just glides over the top. Do not go for a manual for off road because you need the gently application of all that power though a torque converter. The 4X4 Box will lock off into 4 wheel drive separate or with or 4 wheel drive all locked together or 4 wheel locked with additional power switch .The pull at 3mph up steep muddy inclines fully loaded is fantastic and, value for money its a winner every time. High level of comfort. One note: Make sure all 14 grease nipples are regularly attended to and well greased.
