Good Points: High seating position and good all round vision. very comfortable, very spacious. No one steals Pajeros in Kenya so no security concerns. Safe on the road and stable than the hilux.

Bad Points: When she starts smoking, when you put the turbo to work and just go beyond 120Km/hr she becomes a diesel tottler

General comments: 1996 Mitsubishi Pajero 2.8 intercooled td, ex-UK imported to kenya 1997, 130,000 miles on the clock, original engine, service every 3200 miles. Am not the slowest driver and being sure of the suspension, i cruise. Now front disks need to be rephased. Engine abit leaky but this car has done everything i wanted it to do and is still intact. Economy ~9.5 -11 Km whether in Maasai mara or Tsavo or Shimba Hills. I've done it all and i will never complain. Give me another pajero (newer) and i will not complain. Spare parts are pricey and the car smoked alot. EGR blocked and nossles cleaned. Okay now. Will all my family (3kids) and the extended family, this car will take off anytime, anywhere. I have Monroe kit for rear suspension, Monroe shocks front and 31.10x15 tires.

Mitsubishi Pajero is the best off-roader I've ever driven, it is so good that my "weak" 2.8D has beaten up my friends' Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.2 and Suzuki Vitara (on the rough terrain). I've also beaten Land Rover Defender and Lada Niva.
NOT TO MENTION THE STRONGEST ENGINE 3.5 V6 24V.
It's very reliable, and even the fuel consumption isn't bad at all
(7.5l, open road). The most important of all, this car definitely serves its purpose.

Mine is actually 17years old, so is the 2.5. i bought it from a dealer, and haggled him down from 1400 TO 1000. not bad, rock solid,no rust, no smoke, always reliable, even got aircon and cd the heater warms up in 2 minutes. Great off road, best to get an auto. I've owned a rangerover, and a discovery, everything went wrong, autoboxs failed, overated status symbol. h reg 90 would of cost over 3k,and is out of the ark,and as strong as a cardboard box. so I rate my pajero highly, I also have a ...

If you want a vehicle to out-gun all the similar Army off road vehicles then buck for buck the 2.8 T/D Mitsubishi Pajero is it. Cheap to buy - £3000 will get you a reliable, comfortable, vehicle with air condition for both front and rear passengers. The torque converter on the box is a drivers dream. It will pull up a damp muddy slope at 40 degrees at 3mph without wheel spin, go though deep muddy sediment where similar army vehicles will just cut though to ground level and bottom out wh ...
