    Good Points: Location - overlooking the harbour of Funchal with an excellent view of the cruise liners visiting. Excellent pool. Well furnished and maintained rooms. Hotel refurbished and reopened in March 2007


    Bad Points: Most nights' dinner is buffet - not what I expect of a 5* hotel


    General comments: An excellent hotel with good quality staff. Ask Atlantic Holidays for a "Garden View" room and you will get a sea view. However, most sea view rooms are located in the curve near the Atlantic and those rooms tend to be suites. For clients in a "room" they are unlikely to have a view of the sea but the mountains and the main road into Funchal centre. Atlantic should explain this as the "rooms" are in the curve away from the sea.

    We paid £300 to get a sea view at the Funchal, Pestana Casino Park Hotel,and failed to obtain this despite booking one in the UK by their own travel agency, Atlantic Holidays.
    My advice to you would be - avoid this operator and hotel at all costs.
