    The Pestana Grand hotel was a nice hotel. We had a room with sea view it was clean, large and of an excellent standard. Very good staff friendly, helpful and attentive.we did enjoy our holiday. the staff were excellent, the rooms were excellent. The hotel was clean and the housekeeping team were very good. Food was not upto 5 star rating. The evening buffet was not what we had expected from a Hotel of this grade. We thought the pool bar menu was also very dissapointing no local seafood on the menu just burgers and sandwiches not what you would expect. We booked half board but went out to local restaurant after 3 days. Breakfast was good with sparkling wine available if you felt the need for a drink with your eggs. Altogether a nice place to stay but B&B is the best leaving you to try the many restaurants in Funchal.
