    Bad Points: None at all, unless you count the fact that at some point you have to leave to go home !


    General comments: We stayed at Porto Mare Hotel, Funchal, in January 2009 and were extremely fortunate with glorious weather which meant we could enjoy the immaculately kept grounds as well as the wonderful hotel.The staff cannot be praised highly enough,extremely hard working and certainly the friendliest hotel staff amongst many we have visited, reception always bright and cheerful.A real winner ! Superb facilities from a selection of restaurants and bars to a variety of outdoor and indoor pools,spa and gym.The courtesy bus into Funchal was always on time and driven by a courteous and uniformed gentleman.In a good position for a stroll to the Forum Shopping centre or a short taxi ride to the Madeira Shopping centre.This is the place to go to unwind and if you want to do nothing else then sit on your balcony and enjoy the sea views.Don't miss out on Madeira and if you do go then book this hotel.You won't be disappointed in any way.P.S Diet before you go !

    We stayed at the Porto Mare Hotel in December 2007 and would definitely go back. A wonderful relaxing place with great staff. Our chambermaid was lovely too, nothing too much trouble. Ideal for all ages.
