    Good Points: They might have books that you couldn't find elsewhere.


    General comments: Ordering from Alibris is a real mixed bag. The problem is that without any sort of feedback system, the sellers aren't inclined to honor the book descriptions. More than half the books I've gotten from various Alibris vendors listed as being in "very good" condition had massive flaws. Mold, partially missing pages, ripped pages.

    I bought a supposed fullscreen version of "Funny Face". It was the only one that came up on a Google search. Alibris of course.
    It arrived about 5 weeks later and to my horror is in fact widescreen - I have that already.
    Alibris deny all respnsiblity even though I sent a shot of the item that I ordered. It appears the error is theirs as there is no fullscreen version.
    They refuse to let me return it or get a refund. I think they are very dishonourable and should be avoided at all costs. ...

    I have ordered two books from Alibris, on two separate occasions, and nothing was ever delivered. One was an obscure book, but I was able to find three copies of it elsewhere. The other was a fairly common textbook in Astronomy. I thought it shipped only to be disappointed later.

    I highly recommend alibris.com. They were a life saver.. I got 3 books for a total of $18.00, shipping included. This schools bookstore would have charger me $387.54!

    I've found many great books & deals at Alibris. I think those of you who are dissing them are unclear on the concept. You recommend Bookfinder or Amazon Marketplace, however, both of those sites list Alibris books. Alibris networks independent sellers, so, like ebay or elsewhere, you're going to get good sellers & bad sellers. The sellers are rated. Go with the good sellers & give the ones you have complaints about feedback so others know & the seller can improve.

    I placed an order on 04-22-08 paid extra for expedited shipping was supposed to be here 04-28-08 it is now 05-04-08 still no sign of the books. Thier cheesy tracking/shipping company says the books were sent out.

    The second book by the same title, that I ordered for my friend, after being pleased with my first order and recommending the book and the site to my friend, came on time, but was in very poor condition and was a tattered paperback. I had planned on ordering more of the same for friends, but now I hesitate to do so.

    If you want to buy books on the internet, I do not recommend Alibri, as shipping can take a very long time, and customer service is terrible! There are many other good alternatives, eg. BookFinder or Amazon.
